When to engage in Sports Mode
Hope everyone is keeping safe given the pandemic, esp to my USA brothers. Im in Australia.
2018 C43 Coupe (March 2018 purchase)
Anyways, I know you are meant to only engage Sports+ when the temp of the oil and engine is white (ie not blue)
When can you engage in Sports mode and what is the max RPM that you should be pushing when the temps are still blue. Thanks.

Same...
You can switch to any mode as long as you aren't loading the engine too much -- regardless of temperature. Changing modes just changes the throttle response.
If I want to warm up trans fluid faster I may switch around 40*C and keep under 3.5k rpm.

Transmission fluid takes a long time to warm up in this platform. Putting the car in Sport after ignition and driving in this mode is a great way to help the transmission get up to temperature faster without thrashing it.
To the OP - as the other posts mentioned, you don't have to wait to engage another drive mode. It's all about the load and how much you're winding it out. Just keep the revs under control until both the oil and transmission are at normal operating temperatures.

changing the mode also changes the transmission characteristics not just throttle response

I don’t believe there is an official and correct answer. Personally, I keep it in comfort until engine oil is 40 Celsius and then to sport. I don’t use full load or rpm until oil temp is up to normal range. I’m in Canada so half the year the transmission oil rarely gets to normal operating temp on an 18km drive. Seems to torque manage a bit if I’m in sport plus and transmission temp not fully up to temperature.

Start car, sport mode. Every day. Well, except recently, since I haven’t left the house in 3 weeks!

Sport+ mode all day / every day is a good way to spend an extra $400+ per month on gas lolz. I cruise in Comfort mode then switch to S+ when I feel the need to "get on it".

+1. You're also teaching the vehicle to drive like a nanny in S+ when you're in S+ all day / every day.
