C43 Battery Replacement Instructions
I've been getting a low battery warning every time I start up for the last couple of weeks so I bought a new Interstate battery and plan to change it out...
I feel a little dumb for asking this, but are there any precautions I need to take and steps I must do?
I've changed batteries in cars before, but never in one so complex as a C43.
I have seen some old videos on Youtube that say the ECU will have to be reset, and I know there's a constant power battery too.
Can anyone give me the steps or best practices to change out the main cranking battery?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there, I have the same problem with the battery, I called the local dealership and they quote me for a new battery $260 and with installation fees a total of $580.
It seems an excessive cost and would like to ask you if you were able to replace it by yourself and reset the ECU? and if you can lead me in the right direction.
thank you in advance

I got my '20 C43 brand new last February.
I had to have the battery replaced after a few months. Kept getting "starter battery critical" warnings.
And now, with this new battery, it's mostly always at "starter battery partly charged."
Are battery issues common with the LCI model?

I recommend an OEM battery from the dealership. It comes with a 2yr warranty on parts and labor. Also, if you have an independent do it, the battery light may never go out since there's a setting in the front sam that has to be reset with xentry when the battery is replaced.

Go to YouTube and do a search for W205 battery replacement. You will find the answers you seek. It's not really any different from any other modern car.

FWIW, I've never had to use Xentry when replacing a battery. It's a good idea to close all windows and sunroof to make re-synchronization necessary.

I recently replaced my main battery with an Optima Yellowtop DH6 AGM battery. Expensive but well worth it. There are several Non-OEM replacements available just make sure it's AGM, group H6. An OEM battery might be cheaper if you can find one locally. The part number is A-001-982-01-08. The coupes are built in Germany so my OEM battery is made by Varta (Germany). Exide is probably the brand for the sedan OEM batteries. Changing the battery is easy. Probably the hardest part is trying put the new battery in since it weighs over 50 lbs. Note: Your new battery comes with a vent tube and a small plastic round vent plug. Make sure you plug the vent hole near the positive terminal. The vent tube needs to be installed on the negative terminal side. Don't forget to attach the vent hose to the vent tube. Here are pics of the OEM and Yellowtop batteries.

I used an Interstate from Costco and I couldn't be happier! 3 year NON-PRORATED warranty. and only $260.
Took maybe 15 minutes to replace from start to finish.

AFAIK, that OEM 2-year warranty is also prorated. There are aftermarket replacements with the same ratings (quite possibly made by the same manufacturer ... Exide, I think) that have a 5-year full replacement warranty -- oh, and they typically cost about 2/3 of the OEM battery. 5 years ago, the AGM size of battery that's used in C-class AMGs was not that common but, these days, it seems to be the "go to" unit for a large number of car brands/models.
FWIW, I've never had to use Xentry when replacing a battery. It's a good idea to close all windows and sunroof to make re-synchronization necessary.

I'll NEVER buy an OEM battery for ANY car I own again. I can return this battery to Costco after 35 months and 29 days and they'll hand me a brand new one no questions asked.
Hook up a battery charger while you replace it and you don't have to reprogram anything.

Replaced my C43 battery yesterday
I was troubleshooting the ECO stop/start feature and tested my old battery voltage.
The readings came back as 12.3V, I confirmed low voltage when I went to the local BatteriesPlus store and they tested it at 12.5V and did a load test and it didn't hold up.
The AGM battery is expected to have 12.8V to < 13.5V if I remember what the BatteriesPlus sales associate said.
So knowing I had to replace the battery, I stopped by Costco and bought the Interstate H6/48 AGM battery, which set me back $195 (including a $15 core return fee, which I'll get back when I return the used/flat battery).
It seems smaller than the Mercedes stock battery, so I think the 2018 C43 can actually take a H7/49.
Anyway, after the replacement, I cycled the power windows and the roof and everything seemed normal and then went for a 20 min drive.
To my delight, ECO stop/start works again! (I know you guys don't like the feature, but I like to know that I have the power to turn it on/off at will)
The battery replacement was pretty easy.
You guys are a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate it!
