MB service dept is very slow right now

I took my 2017 C43 sedan for a general inspection and detail because my service advisor basically told me the place was dead and they were looking for work.

They did the customary inspection and discovered:
2 bent front rims (straightened)
Out of alignment front driver side (aligned)
Sagging rear suspension (helical coils and shims replaced)
Out of date navigation (updated)
Rear pads at 4 (declined replacement)

I had this same vehicle in for inspection in February and they reported no problems!!! I think in truth they were slammed in February.

Because the springs have to come from Germany, they put me in a GLS450 loaner car for a week while we wait for the parts.

So my advice -- go try to get some stuff fixed under warranty.

was the navi update and spring the only on the list that was covered by warranty? I wouldnt think they would warranty the bent rim and alignment?

Rims are covered by my wheel and tire protection. We shall see if they charge me for the alignment because it was necessary to diagnose the issues with the springs.

Have you been covered by your wheel and tire protection in the past for small bends? I think it usually has to be like a crack? Although not all wheel and tire protection programs are the same.

My experience has been, if it cracks, they consider it structurally damaged and replace it. If it's bent, they consider it cosmetic damage and repair it. Where-as the MB program limits the number of cosmetic repairs to 4 during the term coverage exists. It's really the discretion of the SA to qualify the damage as structural or cosmetic...

I have about 28K miles on the original rear pads. From what I've seen, unlike the front axle, the rear axle brakes on the C43 are no different then say, a C300, and the pads and rotors can be found online for around $150. I'll have my local indy shop do this and be OTD under $300.

That price sounds reasonable......but man, the miles are so low........I have just passed 60K on original front and rear pads..........now the light will probably come on since I said that bahaha.

I drive a 2018 Sedan and replaced my front and rear pads right at 10K, along with the rotors because they were squeaking.

If you drive on the highway with the drivers assist it will wear down your brakes pretty fast.

Stability/Traction control is very aggressive on these cars. If ESP kick in at all while cornering it will apply brake pressure to the inboard rear wheel. This chews up the rear brakes quickly. Solution: turn ESP off (ESP sport) when hooning or cornering aggressively.
