'18 C43 vs '20 C43 Front Brake Caliper Size Difference

Went to get my winter wheels put on today and found out that my old 2018 Winter Wheels that I bought from the dealer did not fit on my 2020 C43 in the front. The rear wheels fit fine but apparently the front brake calipers obstructed the front wheels from being installed. Called my sales guy at the dealership and was told it might be because the 2020 model has slightly larger brake calipers than the 2018 (pre-facelift) model.

Anyone know if this is true? I can't really measure them now but based on what I saw they looked like they were the same size so I was surprised my old front winter wheels which are OEM from factory did not fit on my 2020 coupe.

These are the 18 inch 5 spoke wheels

Had to go and buy a set of aftermarket rims for my winter tires, was really hoping I'd be able to re-use my old set because of how much I paid for them, and the sales guy telling me that they would be compatible with the 2020 model.

Anyone know if there is actually a size difference in the front calipers between the pre-facelift and facelifted models?

Hi, I’ve got lift c43 and have bought prelift 5spoke amg 18 wheels. Everything fits.
Better will be, if you can write here et of front and rear wheels. I think that it will be the issue.
greetings from Czech

Thanks

You're correct, it is the offset for the front wheels. Although I am not sure exactly how much it is. The front brake calipers are rubbing against the inner of the rim so it won't fit. Sadly I will have to go with aftermarket wheels for my winter tires and sell these OEM 18" AMG wheels.

If you had not put those rims on before on a C43, they are probably not for a C43. Those 5 spoke designs were on other W205 models. The dealer/seller probably sold you one that were not from an actual C43. Probably was from a C300.

Really really really unlikely the FL C43 has larger brakes. Also I would not ask that dealer again for information. They have access to all of the data, “MIGHT" is not an acceptable answer for something as straight forward as does the FL C43 have larger brakes than the Pre FL.

The front wheels fit fine on my 2018 C43 but not my 2020 C43, it's most likely something to do with the offset of the rims, which is still very odd because they seem to still sell these exact same rims and tires for the 2020 model OEM

I can’t see how this could happen with a pfl and fl c43, unless your installer switched the rear with the front by mistake.

We tested all 4 winter wheels (which are the same size) on both front and rear, so yeah it is strange. It is upsetting because I paid such a premium for these since they're OEM and I only got to use them for 2.5 seasons, thinking I'd be able to keep using them with my face-lifted c43

The front caliper sizes are the same from PFL to FL c43. It’s the offsets. Try adding spacers on the front before giving up on the wheels.

Why would they use updated fatter calipers on same size rotors and caliper size to mess people up?

I never said they did. I said the calipers are the same. The rotor hats may be different from PFL to FL hence my reco to try spacers first.
