i bought a retrofit steering wheel for my C43 with a new airbag.
I asked professional to instal it and most of them stress it’s a security element and they don’t want to touch it especially if the customer provide the parts.
It started to make me doubt about the authenticity of my airbag.
Is there a way to check it’s legit ?

actually it’s a retrofit of a more recent steering wheel with a custom carbon structure
I have also purchased an upgraded aftermarket AMG steering wheel. I plan on installing it myself. I would assume that if the airbag is fake, it would create a fault code with an airbag light.

Looks like the center, the plug and wiring has been replaced
It's Factory 18 in china, but none of other original airbags have that center . also have printing on the orange clip

the white label and white plastic is seen on newer cars. If you grab a 2018 facelift you’ll see what the op has for an airbag. Easiest way to tell is looking at the physical airbag there are some key points inside that’ll tell you if it’s aftermarket.
op if you paid less than $1000 for the wheel and airbag chances are it’s an aftermarket one. You can go the lifetime of you having the car without it throwing any codes. It’s a hit or miss really.
but if you really want to know you’ll need to take apart.
