Side mirrors not auto-fold

Hi all,

Hope all are well.

Just encounter the side mirrors don’t fold up automatically during car lock, checked all settings are correct, restart engine two times but problem still exist, just wonder any clue here, I’m running a 2019 c43 fl, thank you.

Try this (found it on the forum search) - seems to do the trick!

I had the same problem. Sales rep fixed it as follows:

1 go into menu and turn auto fold off.
2 exit menu
3 turn car off, go out and lock car
4 open car and restart
5 go to menu and turn auto fold on
6 exit menu
7 turn car off
8 lock car from outside of car
It worked!

The above steps are likely only a temporary fix and it will stop working again. I don't know how many 2019s were affected, but it's a coding issue in the door module and requires a software update to permanently fix it. I had this issue in my 2019 C63S. It started happening during my European Delivery, and each time I fixed it with the above steps, but the issue kept coming back. I had my US dealership look at it during the 10k service and they updated the software for the door module and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

It is a very common issue that a software update with new code would be able to remedy it. Either way, electronics do glitch now and then and humans aren't perfect so they make mistakes when coding or forgot to code something that takes care of a certain condition. Another reason why restarting things help solve software bugs as that condition is no longer true.

Thanks super and so should I inform my dealer to update the software for the door module only or they will always do an overall update during service? Also I do few upgrades in the market such as PE, ambient light and the perfume system, wonder if those market-upgrades will be ‘swiped’ when the dealer performa an official software upgrade during service?

Sry in case thats a newbie question, thanks again.

No, they only update modules where there is an update. I think this is a TSB, so you have to tell them exactly what's wrong and then they should be able to find the fix.

Fully agree such quick-fix shall not solve the real problem underneath, shall ask the dealer to upgrade the door module in next service, thanks for the comment!

Just an FYI, a quick fix for it is to hit the button that manually folds your mirrors in and then hit it again to unfold them. Its worked for me and I guess it kinda "reboots" the software.
