C43 pothole blowouts or more
Hey folks, got a 2017 c43 amg cabriolet with 225 40m19 in the front. I have just hit my second pot hole and again broke the rim. I think the super low profile tires are half the problem not taking the shock and letting the wheel take the hit. Can I change to 45(s) or 50(s) to help the problem. Also I think Goodyear eagle tires may be more durable rather than the continentals on the car. Thanks for your help in advance.

I personally don't have this issue because I specifically asked my dealership to install 18" when picking up the vehicle back in 2017 as my city is a pothole city. Ditching run-flats will help a lot, honestly any aftermarket wheel will last better than the OEM 19 s on the W205 C43

But to answer your question: no I cannot relate, my 99 C43 has 314k miles and has never cracked a rim or even broken a sweat.

It is a problem for the W205 C43's 19 inch, no pebble or rock is going to be able to touch your W202 rims so you have nothing to worry about : ) Enjoy your beautiful V8!

I think the AMG rims are flawed. For one, they aren't even forged rims for the price we are paying.
If you can find good flow formed from respectful vendor like konig, niche or enkei just to name few that won't cost arm and a leg, drop down an inch to 18", which tires would be even cheaper then 19 and you can have thicker sidewalls too.

I also want to recommend Superspeed for those who lives in the great white north, if not HRE is an expensive (might cost an arm and a leg) but solid option.

Bent a wheel on my 2020 C43 with 7k miles. Tire was fine. Bent wheel was repaired. Something to note: I was in S+ and the suspension stiffness was set at sport+ setting. I wonder if it contributed to the impact.

Lucky man! My 99 c43 had the hair line crack issue that hundreds hand with the oem amg wheels. Drove me nuts. I think I may have even posted in mbworld about it and we had a bunch of people with same issue.

The 19s on the W205 C43 are notoriously easy to bend, any aftermarket wheel will fare better. Perhaps also get rid of the runflats to improve the ride quality as well. As for suspension just leave it in comfort as sport suspension mode wears off the shocks and make it leak.

The 18s are better as there is more sidewall to work with, I specifically asked my dealership to put 18s on when I took delivery, honestly if the Driver's Package didn't include the 19s I would had ordered the car without them but I got to have that PE. I haven't got a bent rim at all with the 18s I am glad I asked for that because my city is known as pothole city.

Been there, maaan.....
Currently on BBS 18 inch wheels, 30 front and 45 rear, 8 wide, with 235/45 Conti DWS all round. Never been happier with the car. OE wheels, RFT, a bad memory.
$295 each at tire rack. TUV approved for w205. Flow formed, not forged, but for $300 ?
The OE setup mystifies me. It's not comfortable, strong, OR sticky, the SSR are meh at best. Hard tires and soft wheels have to be intentional, too many $1000 days out there...
