Bmw m550??
Has anyone driven one of these?
I drove one yesterday briefly.
not on the highway where that v8 would be great. But I was very surprised how loose it got in some turns.
maybe there’s an issue with the one I drove??

Hmmm try also posting in the W213 amg sub-forum as well. That said, don't our cars compete with the 340i instead? Did you have a chance to test drive the G20 340i or you have plans to? If you did, thoughts on it?

I’m looking for a bigger car. But I really love the c43 still.
it’s been in the shop 15 times in 15 months
7 times has been water leaking from the a pillar area. Eventually having that much water inside is going to destroy the car

They solve it EVERY time. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Untill it leaks again.
New windshield
distrinoc serviced a few times
I have analog speedometer but the digital screen in the middle was replaced
A few other things.
not to major but I didn’t buy an amg to drive around in a glc 300 most of the time.

As for your question, I didn't drive one personally but I did drive a G20 340i, it doesn't exhibit any of symptoms you had, that said, it is a way lighter vehicle after all.

As for the BMW, is there a chance for you to test drive another one, maybe the one you test drive did have issues after all, are you willing to travel to another state to do so? In the meantime, hope someone chimes in with their experience. If you haven't already, post in the W213 amg forum as well.

Haven't driven one, but it's not getting praises from Car and Driver in the handling department. The problem seems to be the tuning of the rear wheel steering. This is not the first and only car with rear wheel steering oddities. Also, there's a bunch of optional stuff like the active anti-roll bars and adaptive suspension that affects the handling. How was the one you drove spec'd?

That looks like optioned for luxury/comfort, not handling. It's missing the dynamic handling package, which would probably improve it, but the rear wheel steering is standard as far as I understand and still seems to be an issue even with the dynamic handling package.

I test drove one when shopping for my C43. It's clearly meant to be a fast luxo-cruiser and did not scratch my itch for a fun sporty enough daily driver. Was fast, but not exciting enough at lower speeds or in the corners.

The W206 C 43 is bigger at least compared to the predecessor but I am not sure if you want a four-cylinder... I forgot but is the G20 340i bigger than the W205 C 43 but then even if it is bigger, is it actually big enough for you?

Just reading that you want a bigger C43.. have you driven any E43's? same engine but there is a solid size difference between them, my buddy has got an 18 e43 and its a sweet ride, a solid upgrade from my c43.. but I'm just a little bit quicker than him. just thoughts
edit: didnt see you that you dont want to spend the extra 30,000.. thats my bad

I haven’t driven one yet. Also thinking e450 is possible and I’ll put my jb4 on it.
but I need to drive them both.
there are some decent deals on e450 but can’t find Many e43

I went from a 2020 C43 to a 2021 M550i. Looks like you drove a 2019? The 2021 has 523hp vs the 456hp (2019) and does 0-60 in 3.6 seconds vs the 5.2 seconds (2019). Torque is 553 vs 480.
If you are going to look for a M550i, at least look for +2020! 2020 comes with the same engine as mine at least, its like a Frankenstein year where the engine is updated, but the rest of the car is still the pre facelift. 2021 and up is the facelift. New tech, interior, exterior, etc.
I enjoyed every second of my c43 ownership, only drove 8k miles during the 1.5 years of ownership (covid) had no issues whatsoever, but the M550i is a beast. Sure its heavier (v8) ~4500lbs!, but its more comfortable and luxurious, and the thing absolutely flies. Its like a magic carpet. All the reviews are great as well, plenty on YouTube.
Even the 540i rated at 335hp does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. Definitely feels much faster than 335hp, then again BMW always underrates their numbers. The 540 is more tossable than the 550 for sure. The comparison is like a 600cc vs liter bike. haha one thing for sure is you will quickly realize that the C43 had stiff suspension.

I recently drove my friends G20 M340i x drive and I now own one for my daily. I hope to be back to the AMG family with an AMG GT purchase one day...
You may have been noticing their oversteer algo on the M550. The M340 tends to have a little tail play before the awd kicks in. Makes it more fun to drive.

The G20 might indeed end up being the replacement car I was looking for to replace my 2017 C 43 as well. I am happy to hear more impressions and about your experience from you on the vehicle compared to your C 43 and the G20 if you like to share (if through PM or here if OP is okay with that or wants to learn more too).
