How to make exhaust pop and bangs like 2017 C43 before software update
I bought a C43 2019 and I am not happy with the exhaust sound. Before I had a 2017 C43 (no software update) that made a noise like a machine gun. Is it possible to get this sound back with some kind of software update or new exhaust system?
It is possible that after breaking-in and then driving it more in sport+, flooring it (WOT) it more frequently, it will sound better.
Or since it was a 2019, then it was probably broken in, how many miles on it? I am wondering if the previous owner was driving it too calmly hence that it doesn't have the sound you are looking for and the car learned that.
That said though, downpipes and ECU tune will open it up.
I forgot to mention, you could also get an exhaust control module as well if you want more volume because stock even in Sport+ the valves aren't open fully.

Could you send me some links or names where to look for it? Is it called ASR modul?
The last year with the PE sound you want is 2018. Anything newer will never get that sound from factory PE.
I just ordered an ASR module for my 2017, I wanted more sound in the lower RPM range. That will have to do until I can finally find a replacement that I think it is worthwhile. I thought about those bypass plugs I linked earlier but then I want to have the flexibility of closing and fully opening the valves while driving, I heard the drone on the highway having it fully opened is bad.
Exhaust valve controller retrofit with auto function
Having retrofitted c63s rear valved boxes to my c43 “sports exhaust” I was in the market for a valve controller and went down the route of a on off controller from asr, which worked great but I was disappointed that I had to remember to switch on, I recently came across a Shadow 2 exhaust valve controller that offered the same off on function but also offered a auto function that could be controlled by rpm speed or boost, it plugs into the old diagnostics port and picks up the required data, it was not listed for the c43 but was for c63 a45 etc the hand held remote has on, off and auto the auto function can be programmed by the free app, to operate and any rpm, any speed or level of boost. Having checked with the manfacturer the advised that they had not tested it on the c43, I could not see any reason Mercedes would change the pin layout on the w205 range so took the plunge and ordered one, once fitted, I can confirm it works perfect, I have the rpm set a 3000rpm and the valves now open and close without any manual input

That is certainly a unique option not discussed on the forums here, I am glad to hear the experiment was successful and it worked out for you, thanks too for sharing with us.
