C450 AMG
Hello, New Owner!

Although I joined MB World in 2007 (I don't even remember what car I was researching for at the time), I never owned a MB until now!

I recently picked up a new to me, 2016 C450 AMG for a winter car. I haven't gotten a chance to take it out to take proper photos yet, here's a potato pic though:

The first day I picked it up, I met up with my cousins in their Mercs and a couple of friends.

We loaded 5 guys into both my car and the CLA45 and both cars had no problem moving us with ease. A couple of the guys, who had driven both cars, felt the CLA pulled a little harder. The rake at the back of the CLA meant it was not as comfortable for the taller guys sitting back there.

I don't think I'll go too crazy on mods for this car, but first up is snow tires as I want to take this car further north to go ice racing this winter. I'll likely pick-up a set of Fast FC04 in 18x8 et30 sizing to go with a square set of 225/45/18 winter tires. Leaning towards getting a set of Kumho Wintercraft Ice.

I'd lower the car, but lowering and ice racing don't really play well together, lol.

After snowtires, I think I'll wrap the front lip gloss black or gloss CF, along with changing the MB logo to a black one (not sure if I'll plastidip or replace it altogether yet). I also want to get a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler and to replace the rear exhaust tips with the rectangular C63 tips (or the updated oval C43 tips). I've read some threads where people have done this, but a lot of the vendors linked too no longer carries this, has anyone bought the rear diffuser and tips from any of the current ebay vendors?

A JB4 piggyback tune is also in the works.

Magnetic Phone Holder

Did my first DIY mod today!

I like to have my phone in my line of sight so I could see if when I need to use Waze. When I searched for ideas, there weren’t too many options. One suggestion was to put a magnet on the screen, I tried this, but found it blocked the 360 view. I saw this thread and that holder seemed okay, but I couldn’t find it for sale in Canada, I prefer to use a magnetic mount and I didn’t want to wait for it; so I decided to Macgyver my own mount. This is the result:

This took me about an hour, just using a metal strap tie that I had in my garage from another project, along with a strong magnet that I had purchased before from Amazon. I was going to remove the first magnet, but decided to leave it there for now.

I did a similar thing, but more aimed towards a very solid mounting for track days. I simply used a strip of velcro attached to the left side of the infotainment display (i.e., similar to where you used magnets) along with velcro strip on the back of the phone. Less convenient to remove, but never came loose or vibrated when on track.

Nice, whatever works! I may consider taking my MB to the track as well, what is your track day setup (tires, pads, wheels, alignment, etc...)?

FYI, I use a magnetic mount in my track car as well. If the magnet is strong enough, it will hold!
