2016 C450 AMG, 2003 CL 55 AMG

Blown engine

Well guys I think this is it. Blown engine on my C450 with 71k miles. Only had some light modifications (downpipes, methanol injection, tune) so it’s definitely not going to be covered. I’m going to try because I really don’t think it should happen at this low mileage. Quoted 31k USD for a new engine.

$31,000 USD for a new engine? Haha, the whole car is not worth that much. I have seen long blocks for about $7k to $9k, which is not terrible if you can do the labor.

Take the mods off

I would take the mods off put the stock parts on and see if you can get it covered.

Regardless of mods, query what is to be covered on a 2016 vehicle with over 70k miles.

And get rid of methanol injection. I've seen so many failures related to it.

Wasn't familiar with that site, found a long block that looks promising. Many thanks! Just out of curiosity, what about the WMI might be causing these failures?

what have you seen. I have c43 with about 5k miles on it still under warranty. I am not going to get to aggressive just a jb4 with cold air no methanol injection or downpipes. Anything specific you've seen done that seems to cause failures ?
