Tail light is leaking through the front lens where the red plastic meets the white ( backup light) of the plastic. It is the driver side left outer light assembly. I confirmed this by gently blowing compressed air on tail light and can see water under the lens in the white plastic area moving with the air current. Is there a way to reseal this area? Does lens actually come apart from the assembly or is it permanently sealed during manufacturing? Just looking to fix without having to spend big $$ on a whole light replacement

If I recalled correctly, these lights aren't actually fully sealed off, if you look closely there might be a punch hole on the taillight. At least on the sedan I notice a small hole on both sides of the taillights. The coupe I am not sure.

so, I went over front of tail light to see if there are any holes anywhere for moisture release but I don’t see anything. I see a vent in the back of light but no moisture is getting in through there. I went through a car wash recently and that’s when I noticed actual water and not just condensation in light. I just took compressed air and lightly blew air through tge vent in tge back of light and it comes out in the area I talked about in original post. It doesn’t seem correct that water should be getting through here as there is the condensation vent in the back of light.

not a c coupe but this is what I mean: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=htt...2e4e439b773e70

That said if you get a lot of water in the taillight that indeed isn't right, other than removing the light from the vehicle it might be hard to trace the source of the leak.

Hmmm nevermind, realized the taillight was already removed in the picture you posted. So you didn't notice anything out of the ordinary?

no. I don’t notice anything out of the ordinary. Just that water coming in through the front between the two different colored lenses.

Since you suspect the light itself, what happens if you purchase a replacement?

Or you already installed a replacement and there is still a water ingress issue?

I am purchasing a replacement now. It’s just a shame that the whole structure itself is in great shape but eventually will fail from the moisture/water issue.

How are the seals of the existing one, is the rubber still good?

yes, everything looks good. The seal is good all the way around the light.

Hmmm, that indeed is confusing. I think you mentioned already but you tried pouring water around and looking for clues.

water is definitely getting in between a minute separation between the red and clear lens. Must be a defect in tge manufacturing process. So I ordered a new one as I am not going to chance moisture getting into the wiring to the lights and causing more of an issue.
