Looking at C43 AMG

I am coming from a B8.5 Audi S4 that I sold and I am deciding between a B9 S4 and a 18-20 C43 Amg. My questions are how reliable are these? What do I look for/not look for when buying one.
Second questions is I have seen several stage 1 ECU tunes but can't seem to find and TCU tunes, Why is that? The few I have found are 2k+. Does stage 1 ECU require bolt ons and or do you recommend any mods?
Thank yall in advance.

It is a reliable car because it has one of MB's most reliable engines if not the most reliable, M276. The C 43 is the biturbo version of the M276. The V8s have issues with rear main seal and four cylinders have issues with cracking. That said, not all V8s and four cylinders have the aforementioned issues but it is being reported on the forums.

The transmission jerkiness is something you need to live with because it is honestly the worse part of the entire car so you really should test drive and see if it is too much for you.

The body roll in corners is another issue but it isn't very bad, but it is there.

Depending on how much you like sound, you might want to get the PE (performance exhaust), do not get 19s or 20s because they crack easily, unless you go aftermarket wheels and tires. Recommend getting facelift so 19 and 20 because of the following that I compiled in a list after comparing the two, you may also go through that thread as it talks about reliability as well: https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...ml#post8858401

Since I like to keeping mine stock (other than the oil pump solenoid mod), my apologies first that I have no comment on the TCU tuning.

I appreciate the response! As long as the jerkiness doesn't cause issues I don't really care the S4 DCT was pretty jerky overall. I assume oil pump solenoid mod is for reliability reasons?

You're most welcome, it is a great car in general if you can get over the jerkiness, you will love it. Make sure to get a pre-purchase inspection (PPI).

Ah, the oil pump solenoid. Where should we start, here is a good read (it is the longest thread on this forum but read the FAQ at least): https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...solenoids.html

I was looking at an Audi S5 Sportback before purchasing my C43. I ultimately went with the Mercedes. The C43 was a little more expensive, but I loved the throttle response and the handling was better then the S5. Plus I have the Performance Exhaust option which pretty much sealed the deal. I've had mine for two years now and luckily no issues. Mine is completely stock except a set of K&N dropin air filters and cabin filter.

My C43 and My Almost S5.
