Question C43 Weird Sound

Hi there,

I've recently noticed an odd sound while my car is rolling. It's difficult to describe, but it sounds like a rubbing noise. I live in a newly constructed area with a lot of gravel so whenever I leave the house, I have to drive through it. A mechanic friend suggested that it could be a small rock stuck between the rotors or somewhere similar.

I'll be attempting a few things to identify the cause, but I wanted to post here to see if anyone with more experience has any ideas or has encountered something similar.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sounds like rust on the rotors, was the vehicle parked outside in the rain or was the vehicle driven in the rain and haven't driven for a few days?

Rocks and pebbles are certainly possible, I had those stuck before but it didn't make the sound you had.

My front left brake rotor does seem to have the most rust out of all of them, the car is parked in a garage over night, I do drive in the rain and I daily this vehicle so I can’t say it hasn’t been driven for a few days. Thanks for that information.

I would do some hard braking (not to 0) to break down the rust on a safe road. Or do a quick bed in: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ml#post8297819

I understand yours is not a squeal but it might still help.

Is it possible it could be a CV axle? A friend of mine said he has something similar in his Lexus vehicle currently.

From what I know it would be knocking or making way more noise if it was the CV axle, I could be wrong however.

That certainly doesn't sound like a CV axle... no harm lifting the car up checking though I might be the one who's wrong.
