Fair offer for 2020 c43 purchase
I am in QC Canada.
I came across a 2020 c43 amg 4 doors sedan that I like with a bit it less than 80 000 km on the odometer.
It seems like recommended maintenance was. I am awaiting for service records to confirm.
From what I can see:
- Exterior lighting package
- Driver's assistance package
- Multimedia package
- Parking Assistance package
- AMG Night Package
- AMG Dinamica Performance steering wheel
- AMG Performance front seats
- Digital instrument cluster
it has the button for the exhaust, so I assume
- AMG Performance Exhaust (is there a spec with a sport exhaust and a button to open valves?)
I have to give a call to MB Canada to get the full list of options
Is there a way to assess fair value?
I used clutch.ca but it doesn't accurately account for variance in options.
Seller is asking for 41.6k CAD
I think I can do between 38 and 40k CAD. Though 38k might seem/be too low.
I am not trying to low ball.
Am I being unrealistic or unreasonable?
Other questions:
Is an independent PPI good enough or should I take it to a dealership?

Canadian Black Book says: $ 36,025 CAD Trade in value with a dealership with information about options (CBB is also biased towards dealerships)
Clutch.ca says for purchase from private seller: $ 37 673 CAD, $37 694 trade value with dealership, with generic information
The gap with asking price is pretty significant.

Decide where you would like to be price wise. If you determine, for example that it is worth 39,000 to you, start with a bid of 36,000 or 37,000 and let him know why you think that is what it is worth. You are taking on alot of risk. There is no waranty and anything can break at any time. Do you know how expensive it is to service and fix these cars? Who cares if he feels insulted. He will likely come down a little in price, and then you will go up a little. He will say 41, you will say 38. Let it sit a day or two, and be will come back to you.
