Keep the Edition 1 side decal stickers or ditch them?

I'm curious as to people's thoughts on the side decal stickers that come with the Edition 1? My C63S (wagon - yes we get them in Australia) Edition 1 is being delivered at the end of the month and I'm in two minds about the stickers. They do show that it's a special edition but man they look pretty 80's! Thoughts??

I think they look great.

Personal taste varies and design elements like stickers are often polarizing but on the actual/genuine Edition 1 cars, I think the stickers look "at home."

That said, the car would look just as good without them.

My M Performance F30 335i came with rocker panel decals and despite all of the modifications the car had, everyone that approached me to talk about the car raved about how cool the decals looked. The exhaust, gold Brembo brakes, black grille, front lip, and CF spoiler were always second fiddle to the rocker panel stickers.

Here's a shot of the decals before all of the modding began:

On lighter cars, the decals do provide some nice contrast.

C63s amg Edition 1
I think it is very dependent on the car colour as well as personal preference. On darker cars, it is very difficult to see the stripe. I have a polar white edition 1 on order. I went with the edition 1 to differentiate my car from standard (without going after market) and also because I really liked the quilted seats. I also agonised over the stripes but decided to run with them. You should also be able to take them off if you change your mind at a later date as they are only stickers. The more pictures I see of cars with the stripe, the more I love it...

As zibby43 said it depends on personal tastes, in my opinion not a fan at all of this whole stickers/decals thing in my eyes it just makes a car look chav, but having said that if you like that sort of thing and buy an edition 1 you may as well keep it all original as is otherwise you would have to put it all back again when time comes to sell.

Those rocker panel decals did look pretty good! I agree that on lighter cars they pop a lot more.

Exactly why I'm having this debate with myself at the moment...

By the way the car is Iridium Silver and should look something like this:

I'd run them proudly if I had an Ed 1.

It reminds me of the gto judge stripes. Harkens back to the playful late 60's early 70's muscle cars with cartoon themes. In a good way.

The judge, dodge demon, cud a, all had recognizable sticker kits.

Not a fan of them myself, but they are a unique element to the car as JPM says and I'd probably leave them on if I had an E1, assuming they were affixed already (sorry, Canadians).

it looks like a toy with those stickers, remove the decals around the doors and rear bumper. Keep the red strip by the grill.

I will be getting my black metallic edition 1 without the side decals. Only because the car did not have it. Nevertheless, I personally prefer the cleaner look.

I'd take them off but to each their own !??!

I'd prefer the " less is more " look

Absolutely. I saw my first ED1 on a Florida highway and it makes it stand out.

I'd personally stick with them since they make your car look more unique and special.

Tell me if you feel like its the 80s after seeing this video. If so, ditch them.

That exhaust note....so good.

Lots of really good comments and suggestions here and a pretty good spread between "keep em" and "ditch em". As a few have said this comes down to personal taste and preference.

On balance I'm leaning towards keeping them (to start with anyway). I'm thinking this way because the car is a lighter colour and they will provide good contrast, they are a unique element to the Edition 1, and if I can't live with them after a few weeks this will be my very first mod - sticker delete.

ha...they do remind me of the 80's! Needs a big windshield stripe with the word Mercedes across the top to match.

I initially wanted to remove them, but now that I think it looks silly with the side indents w/o any badge.

Then I saw JPM's idea, I wanted to wrap mine in red initially (against steel gray with nite accent), but then I think black or dark gray is gonna be bad ***.

I am keeping mine, and will do some kinda paint or wrap on them.

I never liked the stripes but they're seriously growing on me.

Pit-Pony, that car looks absolutely beautiful but something does look missing without it haha

That car looks absolutely amazing - you must be very happy Pit-Pony. This is a hard choice as I also really like the look of the car in spacegeek's post with the stripes. My dealer has told me to relax and said I should drive around for a month or so with the stickers on the car. If I don't like them he's quite happy to remove them for me. I'm going with that option.
