Special AMG menu / readouts

Hi all. Does anyone know if the new C63s has any special AMG menus in the main Comand screen, like the BMW M displays which show power and torque output?

I know there is some additional AMG detail like boost gauge in the secondary LCD display, bit is there any more?

Thanks

No, the only read out is in the center display in the instrument cluster.

Thanks JP. I have seen some marketing photos which show a power / torque / temperature gauge on the Comand screen but I guess it didn't make it from marketing into production.

I have seen the performance readouts in the new C63 Coupe @ 4m47s

Also in the GLE 63 @ 3m24s

I'm wondering if the 2016 C63 sedans will have this new "engine data" screen.

It is there, in the Comand.
CAR settings - motor.
You have several gauges, including torque and power.

I vaguely remember seeing a picture of a G-Meter in one the the Coupe press pictures in the screen between the speedo/tach - I can't seem to find it now, so I'm not sure if they took it down or not.

Would be cool to see more performance meters added over time!

It is not available on the MY16 C63. It is, however, in the C450. That vehicle was here for training this morning. It has the HP/Torque, Engine Temp, and Trans Temp. The C450/GLE Class also has a Gyroscope/Tire Degree input screen.

How is the vehicle determining the power and torque? I suspect it's just using some algorithm that looks at throttle position and RPM. It's unlikely that there is any real measure of power.
I'm not sure what value the display provides, seems gimmicky to me... Another thing to distract us from where our eyes should actually be looking...

Well, "gimmicky" is a term I wouldn't use to describe it. I actually would like that in my car considering it is on the M3/M4.

Just because it's available on a competing model doesn't mean it's not a gimmick. I've seen many huge spoilers and extensive aero kits on vehicles that couldn't reach 100mph unless pushed off a cliff. It doesn't mean they were useful.

What purpose would an artificial HP gauge it serve? How would you drive differently with that info?

The information serves no purpose, and I can't imagine how it might benefit a driver, other than for the sheer novelty. The information isn't actionable, it's just a gimmick.

By that definition a LOT of things in these cars would be considered gimmicks, but as a whole they add to the texture and features of the car which is what makes them special.

I have the same exact HP/TQ gauges on my X5 that are on the M3/M4.

It is a gimmick that just uses an algorithm. Nothing special at all and nothing you'll use more than once or twice and then forget about.

The 2016 C300 has the same new screens in command showing HP, torque etc.

Question is can the 2015 get a Command update to bring it to the same version as the 2016?

Definitely on my current car MY2015 C63S (United Kingdom). Under Vehicle Settings: Engine Data produces the large dials showing HP and TQ, and the Vehicle Data produces all the telemetry like brake force, acceleration, wheel turning angle, centre weight position, shock use, etc. I would hate to find out this is not available on the MY2016 car which I get in 6 weeks time

Whilst perhaps a bit of a gimmick I find it really cool to see, and there is more to it than just throttle position for its readouts, i.e. if you floor the pedal it doesn't just show 510HP straight away, it actually forms the values very realistically based on when the power is at it's fullest and when torque is at it highest etc. So even if it is an algorithm, it looks very accurate to me. But who am I to tell it's not 3% off actual values.

Also there are a ton of ODBC plugins one can buy which you can link to a laptop or a smartphone app which show you real time information about the engines diagnostics - I have used these for a couple of years. They show torque output and hp being used among a string of information read directly from the ECU. So why would it be so difficult for Mercedes to show this information within their own command centre?

I have all this in my MY2016. Cool stuff. Suspension travel % is pretty cool to watch when you change the suspension modes. I currently only have 700 miles on my car so I haven't been able to see how far the HP goes lol.

I'm hearing conflicting stories that this IS and ISN'T included in the MY15/MY16... So do have anything definitive yet?

I'm considering a 2015 Edition 1, but if it does not have these "toys", then I will just order the 2016 model. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Also, can someone tell me the exact steps to get to this screen? I figure I might as well try it in the Edition 1 or 2016 model next time I go to the dealer.

Why not just go to the dealer that has the car you would buy and see if it is there and that will tell you for sure.
Just hit vehicle button and then Dynamic select and then engine data.

The HP/torque meters in COMMAND are only on models built as My16, after July this year. Simple.

I have an HP/Torque gauge in mine (MY16).

Have to go to the vehicle menu on the command screen.

You see, that's what's interesting. Some people with international spec cars report it's available. It's the same COMAND software. If we could just get into the Engineering menu on COMAND, we could turn these features on if they are not already available, I'm confident. My wife's 2014 C250 has the ability to turn on UK functions in the COMAND module, as well.

I've been searching for the Engineering menu since I got my car.

Some say it doesn't exist. I doubt that. But wouldn't be surprised as MB would rather you take the dealer and have them plug in the DAS/Xentry box even for simple stuff.

As to retrofitting/enabling this feature, I'm 100% sure its just a software patch and can be done to COMAND NTG5. Maybe its a selling point for 2016's but there should be absolutely no reason it can't be put on the '15.

Is there a way to buy this tool yourself? In the Audi world, we could just buy a Vag-Com tool and be done with it... Voila, we have access to all the customization the dealer could perform. Is there something similar on the MB side?
