08 C63 vs. 08 M3 vs. 08 IS-F

In the E class / 5 series class of cars, I think C&D felt more comfortable favoring MB for its every day usability. I have a hard time imagining them giving the nod to the C63 over the M3 unless it absolutely hammers the M3 on a road course. The M3-class of cars is not about 0-60 or 1/4 miles. It's about handling and road feel and brakes. And unfortunately, they can always find some "intangible" element like "connectedness" that gives the M3 the win.
I wonder if LSD is optional on the M3? Anyone else find it funny that there would be a "Sport" option package for the AMG? What next, a "Luxury" package including whitewall tires and velour seats?

The question is, will Lexus favor street comfort over absolute performance? Will they make it ride softer, brake quietly? That's been their preference in the past, and it's certainly possible that they will do that again.
They could do all that, and have their car trashed by the magazines, and then still outsell the M3. Different strokes.

By this time I'm sure Toyota is trying to find ways to crank out more hp and torque to match or at least get a bit closer to the C63. It's likely going to fall between the 420 of the M3 and 457 of the AMG. Let's just say 438 for kicks.
With only so much covered in the magazines so far, and haven't driven all 3 cars in person allows me to judge based on what I see on paper. It doesn't amount to anything until I drive all 3 cars.

Keep in mind that 1/2 the buyers of C63s and M3s (and 80% of Lexus buyers) interpret "brakes suck" as meaning that they make a lot of dust, or sometimes squeal.
The question is, will Lexus favor street comfort over absolute performance? Will they make it ride softer, brake quietly? That's been their preference in the past, and it's certainly possible that they will do that again.

They are only making 4500 I think.

Is that really true anymore?? Didn't the C55 tie the almighty M3 on the Nurburgring loop?

MBWorld Fanatic!
the saddest part about all this discation is how some of you try to compare lexus and GM vehicles with German in engineering nomatter how hard thouse other car companies out ther try to compete with mercedes benz they'll never keep up it has been proven ...........

I agree re GM, but Lexus may already have "engineering" equal to or better than Benz. The quality of engineering is determined by the success you have in achieving the desired outcome. If the desired outcome is comfort, tangible quality, convenience and reliability, then the Lexus engineers are beating Benz (especially if you factor in price). So for buyers seeking those qualities, Lexus is hitting a home run. For people wanting something else (handling, power, road feel, ????) then the Lexus may not meet their expectations.

I'm sure that all three will be great cars and the real winner is the consumer. For those that bash the lexus, they have a large aftermarket tuner market in Japan and items such as coilovers is something I'd like to have in the C63.

All I have to say about MB is they need to get there sh@! together AMG is awesome but the cars they are putting there engines in are falling apart around the engine. I owned a C55, and I currently own a CL55 03 its under warranty thank god. My point is they cannot fix there own cars my CL has been in the shop at least 5 times for the same reason the supension and they replaced ball joints front thrust arms etc. and the car still creeks...My C55 the electrical system was messed up they couldnt fix that neither it was in the shop like 6 times for the same reason the engines in both of my AMG's where fine its just the parts MB uses. My whole point is I dont think Lexus break as much as MB, and they where also rated the worst car company up there with Land Rover and Jag. I also own a new 3 series coupe and I owned an older one and those cars did not break nearly as much as my Benz..........But I keep on buying MB I have owned over 3............
