C63 wheels..

I noticed the new C63 AMG site has the C63 on the AMG style V's shown.. (SLK55 wheels) Since I had those on my c32 I was pretty happy to see them on the C63.. My favorite AMG wheels.. The new CLK63/E63 wheels look killer too.. Wonder if there will be a choice? Any thoughts?

In the USA there is not a choice... You get the 18" ones that they do not show on the AMG site. At least not in the main pictures... You won't be able to get the 19" V's here because Mercedes claims they won't stand up to american potholes... At least that's what I read.

the 18" AMG 5-spoke wheels will be standard on the C63 and the 19" AMG multi-spoke (ala SLK55 wheels) will be available as an option is what i've heard.

do note that these rims are

8" up front

and 9" rears..

18 or 19's..

hower they only have 235's and 255 (F/R) for tires...

so going to 245/255 to 265/275 would be a smart move

18" wheels on the standard car, 19" with the performance pkg. dont know if 19" wheels are available as a stand alone option (different from dealer added accessory), but MB should make this so as it has always been an option on the M3.

Max Tire Width

Has anybody tried (or heard of) any wide tire fitments on the 204?

How much wider than the rim can tires be? Even with 255's on the rear (about 10" wide), the tires are 1" wider than the rim. Any anticipated benefit/detriment to using wider tires on the same rim?

I would imagin that straight line traction would improve with wider tires, but that lateral traction could suffer (less ideal sidewall loading)?

19's I've had in the past haven't been able to withstand the potholes we have here in Chicago.

19" wheels are NOT included in performance package--- included is lsd, performance chasis, composite brakes, and alcantara steering wheel.

19" wheels will be an option though

u may be right on this one about US not getting 19s. i just got my Road & Track Nov '07 issue and it states "19-in alloy rims won't be available in the US"

I read the same article. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the standard 18" rims should be the same design as the standard rims on the E63 (5 spoke, with the center part of each spoke slightly darker).

they look very similar and have the same width..

I wonder if the offsets are any different... I guess we will find out a in a few months.

upgrading to 265+ in the rears would not a problem at all.

Take a closer look at the E63 and C63 rim. IMO, the chisaled looking 18" C63 AMG rim looks alot better than the softer edge E63 rims. E63 and C63 rims are not swappable. The offset on the W204 C-Class are way too high. Almost like a FWD car.

Here is size/offset of W204 AMG accessory rim for C300 and C350:

AMG IV 18" 5-Spoke Wheel
Finish: Brilliant Silver
Wheel Size: 8.0J x 18 ET 50
Tire Size: 225/40 ZR18
Option for rear axle
Wheel Size: 8.5J x 18 ET 54
Tire Size: 255/35 ZR18

i don't believe the wheel u posted will be the one for the C63. i think the C63 will get the same style rim as on the E63 (solid 5-spoke wheels w/ titanium insert, not the 5-split spoke wheels)

Is it safe to assume that the offsets for the standard W204 and C63 will be the same? I know both the front and rear axles are redesigned to make the track wider and to improve the suspension geometry. Would this have an effect on the offset?

For comparison purposes, are the offsets on the CLK63BS the same as the regular CLK? Same for E vs E63, etc (I don't know if there is a suspension change on any of the AMGs other than the CLK BS and the C63).

No, you cannot assume that the offsets for the stock rims will be the same between the W204 non-AMG sport sedan and the W204 C63 AMG.

All together, there currently are 3 Style VI variants available (not including the ones that will come with the C63):

1) Titaium grey finish (stock on the E63, CLS 63, and CLK63)
2) Titanium silver finish
3) Multi-piece rim with titanium silver finish

And the offsets are all different for the E63, CLS63, and CLK63.

So make sure you do your research before committing to buying AMG rims that don't come with your particular model of interest.

How come I know this? Because I went through all of this stuff when I bought Style VI rims for my W203 C55.

yo, read it again. I posted the AMG Accessory rim for the C300 and C350. I am pointing out the very very large offset on the W204 chassis which the C63 AMG may also have.

W202 and W203 rims have similar offsets but the W204 rims will not fit the older C-Class due to huge offsets.

A wider tire will fry the same. Rear tires got narrower on 2003+ W211 E55 (469HP) and 2007+ W211 E63 (507 HP) versus the 1999-2002 W210 E55 with 349 HP. Went from 275/35/18 to 265/35/18.

I am about to order new wheels and found one from

http://www.powerwheelspro.com/

They seem to make replicas.. What are your thoughts on replicas? They look great but how is the quality?

FWIW I was very pleased with the quality / finish / durability of the BMW replica wheels that I purchased from them last winter. In addition, their customer service is top notch.

Do they offer a wheel with a c63-friendly offset? It seems like all the Merc wheels are 35mm.
