European Delivery on C63...
- I notice not all AMG models are included in the ED program. Currently, according to MBUSA only the SLK55 is available. Obviously, I assume no one at the moment knows if the C63 will be included in the program, however is it still possible to take Euro delivery on it even though some of the perks (ie. 7% discount) won't be included? What about the destination fee?
Too bad they don't offer all AMG models in the ED program, seems these are the vehicles that could take advantage of it the most
But I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it is offered next spring.- If I wanted to plan to take delivery around September 2008, what would be the best way to approach this? According to MBUSA, it says plan to order 4 months in advance. So if I order in May, does this gaurantee a Sept. delivery, or do I just hope they assign a date that works with my schedule?
Also, given this is an AMG model and the whole supply/demand issue, if I do the Euro delivery, since this wouldn't use up any allocations from my local dealer, does this allow me to bypass any waiting list that there may or may not be at my local dealer? In essence, I'm ordering direct from the factory right? And there aren't typically long waiting lists on AMG cars though anyhow, correct?
While the perks of the European delivery program would be awesome, I mostly just want to drive my new C63 on the Autobahn and back roads of Europe
A little unclear on the 7% discount.. My brother received it on his 330, and others who posted in the AMG forum seem to have benefited from it as well.. However, when I put my deposit down to get on the list, my salesman said not to count on it..???? Also, regarding bypassing the list.. I would be very surprised if you could simply order one if there are people like me who dropped a grand to do the same thing.. let me know if you hear different!!! I could definitely use the money for something else..

I would not expect to be getting any discounts off a new model.
The allocation still comes from your dealer so you still have to deal with the waiting list issues if your dealer has one.
I would be quite surprised if they let you ED one of the early cars but if you are looking for one planed out in the future, you should be able to make that happen.
Good Luck! Let us know whatyou find out.
I'm curious, however, when euro delivery is arranged for a car not included in the program, do the other benefits still apply (ie. insurance, taxi vouchers, 1 night hotel, etc)?
Also, I've read several posts that stated cars part of the ED program did not come from a dealer's allocation (but I also read some posts that this has changed), however this is a moot point anyhow as the C63 probably won't be included in the program and will come from the dealer's allocation as mentioned.
So I guess in conclusion, I need to find a dealer willing to go through the extra work of arranging euro delivery, plop down a deposit and get in line. I sure hope I can make this happen anyway. I probably shouldn't have but I have my hopes sky high now haha.
if i get the c63 most definetly euro pick ..in fact that may be the make or break deal for me........so do keep us apprized as you pursue your plan.
my dream euro vacation includes a few hours on the nordschleife.....and driving to 2 f1 races back to back weekends........
-power folding mirrors
-parkronic parking assist
-dual xone a/c unit had the digital read out. just like on the CLKs.
-a slightly different comand with tv, dvd capabilities.
I have seen the pictures of the US and Euro C63s.
as usual US spec car doesnt get the parktronic and digital a/c read out.
and Euro car had them(visible on the pics)
I have seen people here in the past who wanted to update their a/c controls to digital but not possible. and a few people installed aftermarket parktronics on their C32/55s.
Maybe with the european delivery one could order these as well.
I just need to put down a deposit, but they want $5000? I was fully prepared for $1000 which seems to be the norm, but $5000 seems steep especially with no official launch date? I've never ordered a car to spec like this? Any advice/suggestions on getting my name on the list for a reasonable amount?
And Substance, from what I understand you can not get the car equipped with euro options, even through European delivery. All cars ordered in the U.S. no matter how they are delivered, are U.S. spec cars
