Cheezy Door Locks
I know this is a petty complaint...but what is up with all the cheezy mercedes door locks now on the AMG models? When I bought my C55 I noticed the door locks were considerably nicer than the standard C-Class locks. Now.... The locks are the same across all the classes no matter if you have the AMG built version or not. I was even looking at the $140k Black Series today at a dealership near me and it also had the very cheezy feeling/looking locks which look like they were all stuck together at one point and can poke a hole in your arm if not careful.
I just really enjoy the classy look and feel of my locks with the chrome inserts and smooth round edges. I know it's a small detail but I just don't understand why Mercedes insists on cutting corners like this.

It's not petty, I noticed this as well. It's all the little details that make Mercedes more special than their competitors. If they ignore that, they won't be any different than the rest of them.

Hey SolidGranite,
I have the same color combo nice. I don't know what you mean on door lock pins though as there is another C that parks by me and has the same as what came stock on my car. I havethe brabus ones with chroms surrounds now however- THE only way to go. I couldn't stand the cheeseball oldschool ones. The new ones appear to be like toyota's square???

These pics look nothing like the door lock pins on my CLK55. Mine don't have the golf tee shape to them. They're the same width from top to bottom and almost go flush inside when locked. The C63 has these golf tee shaped locks? That would suck.

However. What I am saying is the lock pins in the pics which are from my C55 are considerably nicer than the C63, E63, CLK63, etc... I'm not saying the C55 pins are great but compared to the new MB models, they are much nicer to look at and feel.

my thoughts exactly, the c300 is even worst than then c63. my ten yr old 528 has better door lock than that, atleast it goes all the way down when in locked position, preventing any possible elbow knocks...
I can't believe MB doesn't pay attention to details like this or are they trying to preserve some traditions here?

You'll get no argument from me. How much would nicer lock pins cost MB to put in there? $0.75? They're already charging us an arm and a leg for these cars as it is, they can do better.

Those door lock pins aren't or actually weren't AMG specific. They were on all C classes and E classes up until last year. If you look at any 07, or 08 eclass AMG or not and C class it has the cheap ones. It's a cost cutting move, and I agree they look terrible. I went and test drove a C and my girlfriend noticed them and said how cheap they look. I wonder if you can put the old covers on them... I wouldn't be surprised.
