i like to ride my bike
that is freaking cheap! that would be around 43k EUROs.
compared to 55k EUROs without any taxes
I believe I will never ever understand that!
but I saw a grey one just this weekend. And I have to admit it looks
really good. Not too much but just enough to look better than a
normal Coupe.

I did, purchased it 1/5/08 and absolutely loving everything about it. Covered the first 1,200 miles in two days so can now roll around in P500. Unbelievably accelerative even compared to my previous 996TT.
I still have the $1,000 deposit down at Pacific Audi but that's only because I've been too lazy to call them up. I'm going to call later today or tomorrow and get that back as I'm going to keep this car until the next M5 comes out in about 4 years. I have the M bug
Had 50 percent ceramic tint (light) done allround at the dealership for $300 and getting the fugly orange side markers painted black at Platinum later this week. It will then be complete and I'll post pics.

Huh? MB's have come with 4 year / 50k mile scheduled maintenance for quite some time - my '02 had it, and my '04 still does (expiring soon, though). BMW's have a slight edge, in that they even give you "free" consumables (e.g. wiper blades, brakes, etc.), but it's all just factored into the original list price anyway - you don't get anything for "free" with either (or any) manufacturer, you know...

I think Audi dropped it as well - although I'm not sure when. I think people have to buy that as "AudiCare" now.

That is one minor reason that I'm considering the M3 over the C63. It is definitely not a deal breaker but an issue nevertheless.

Does everyone really think the new C63 will cost that much. I think MB is trying to knock BMW of their pedestal and will make a shocker of a pricing for this car. They didn't really have to spend any money on engine design since the 6.2 liter already exists and that should make a significantly lower price. Maybe that's just wishful thinking by me even though i couldn't afford one anyway.

BMW is the only car company that has the free (included really is a better term, because nothing is for free) maintenance now. Audi did also discontinue their program.
I hope that MB also prices the C63 to compete with the M3 sedan.
Oh just fyi, if you all think MB maintenance is bad get this, all Lexus models still use conventional oil and need service every 6 months or 5,000 miles.

Engine Oil (Castrol 10W 60)
Transmission oil
Rear axle diff oil
Air Filter
Thats all I can remember off the top of my head but but it's basically a retune according to those who built the car.
Now this is done, next service isn't until 15,000.
It's very frustrating as you want to do is nail it to 8,250 but worth it when it's such an investment. From 1,200 to 3000miles you're also expected to gradually increase revs but it's not that important provided the first essential 1,200miles were done by the book.

Cool, well I learned something new. I know on any car you are supposed to be gentle during the brake in period but I guess BMW wants to make sure everything is done right since after that time most owners will probably push these cars very hard.

Cool. The 1,200 mile service is quite unique but with a hair over 100bhp/liter on a naturally aspirated 5 liter V10 there is a lot of stress on the engine components and never more so before it's had chance to bed down a little.

Eh..if i'm going to go for performance, i'm going to get the m3. But if I want an everyday car, i still wouldn't even get the c63. I'd get a c350 or whatever, and then debadge it. I don't need an everyday race car...

E46 M3 & Jeep SRT8 E60 M5 on order
the base sedan looks attractive.
also wanted to point out that prior to BMW free maintenance every BMW was required to do a 1,200 mile service now only M cars are required

This has been a great post, I just read it all.
I have to say that my latest service experience with MB has pretty much convinced me to leave the brand after I am done with my current lease. I am not sure if anyone can really top the BMW service policy. When you consider the fact that MB cars are more expensive to begin with, and then add the maintenance cost for AMG cars, it's no brainer that the M wins the value wars. But for me it was all about the beauty of the car up to now and MB won hands down. But as I said, my recent experience with them has soured the deal enough that I don't want to repeat it.
