$57,272 for the M3 Coupe in the US

I think it is safe to say that MB will soon be coming out with C63 pricing. I'm certainly interested to see what the base and options will run in this nicely crowded niche.

CTS-V
IS-F
Audi S5 (RS5 soon?)
M3
C63

Very tough decision. I hope that I don't have a hard time getting a real test drive from my local dealers.

My thread title is off by $3 btw. Price is $57,275.

Go with the M3. Its the only true all around performer. Then the CTS-V.

CTS-V is just too large a car for me.

I really like the looks of the C63 better and its engine with all that torque is enticing.

...........This is interesting. BMW is being very staregetic in its pricing and marketing. The price your quoted is very reasonable. In addition you get free mentainance, while with Mb you pay for your mentainance. I was at the dealership for service and they would not give me a loaner car, because I did not buy the car from them. They forgot to remember that I was living in another state when I bought the car. Okay, I said I'll rent a car till the next day. Nope they said, your car could be here for days, so rent a car for longer.........upto a week they suggested. Understand that my car came in for warranty sevice on a broken window regulator. It turns out that the Dealership "Mercedes Benz of Pompano" runs an Enterprise Car rental service from within its doors. My point is that not only will the C63 be significantly more expensive, it will also be significantly more expensive and aggravating to own because the dealership experience for MB cars is so poor. The C63 is a nice car though.

I just can't see myself driving a 2-door M3 to a project meeting. It's the fanatic teenage boy racer image that I hate the most. M3 is a great car, don't get me wrong, but no thanks.

.............I agree with you. I'm not a big fan of BMW in general and the M3 in particular. However as car makers study their customer base and try to position themselves favorably, I think the $57K price for a new M3 is brilliant. MB will probably offer a stripped down C63 for $65K and nickle and dime you for ever single option that should have been standard anyway. If Mb proves me wrong and offers a reasonably loaded C63 for mifd $50K range, my god they will out sell the early years of crispy creme doghnuts.

I couldn't agree more. It's shockingly affordable.

Although they probably have figured out that people are willing to pay $10k extra just to have the three-pointed star bonet on the hood. At least I was.

What's the standard equipment? Looking at how BMW equip their cars nowadays, I don't expect anything like leather, auto dimming mirrors, or leather to be standard.

Anyone thinking of getting the coupe, now that the price is out? I still don't like the front end of the m3, but overall sounds like a winner to me.

You still have to actually drive it and to feel the different. We were in between C300 sport 4Matic and 328xi coupe last month. After the test drive, both us both agree with the BMW. It all depends on what you feel and which one makes you happy. You just can't go wrong with either !

The M has quite a bit standard but I'm sure there will be nearly 10k in options available as well...

Wow, I was expecting a sticker closer to mid 60's! This is a pretty damn nice deal. Makes perfect sense and I think BMW did a great job.

remember, the E46 M3 had a base price of 47K - there was 10-12K worth of options that could be put on the car to bring the price up. As said earlier, the final configured price of most M3's will probably be close to 70K.

It certainly gives buyers choice. For those big on manual trans or lowest entry price, $54k/$57k is the right spot. Once you start adding options though it adds up real quick. Options like paint, dual clutch, heated seats, M Drive (via tech package only), & the Premium Package and you're at ~$65k (before dest, taxes, & GG)...a $15k premium over a similarly equipped 335i.

What will be interesting to see is if the C63 is priced against the E90 or E92 M3. A dual clutch E90 C63 equipped comperably with the C63 (leather, heated seats, & sunroof) will come in around $60k. I can definitely see MB putting the C63 base in the $63-$65k range.

That's a great base price. With all the recent rave reviews it seems like the traditional class leader will hold its position afterall despite great efforts from AMG and RS. One option M engineers say is a must on the E92 M3 is EDC though, so factor that in to the price as the car was designed for it. I like the look of the car, especially in white or black but wonder why the "M3" badge on the trunk is so small- it looks disproportionate.

Around 70k is what people who are pusrchasing the car and keeping a long time will likley want though. Fully loaded it wil be in a different quality league to the 335i, which seems to be driven by some of the most annoying drivers on the road today.

As regards supply and demand, BH BMW told me they were going to charge 25k over list on early examples. Ridiculous. Also, by this time next year the streets will be flooded with them. The M3s achilles heal is the sheer amount of them you see in non-enthusiasts hands.

Huh? MB's have come with 4 year / 50k mile scheduled maintenance for quite some time - my '02 had it, and my '04 still does (expiring soon, though). BMW's have a slight edge, in that they even give you "free" consumables (e.g. wiper blades, brakes, etc.), but it's all just factored into the original list price anyway - you don't get anything for "free" with either (or any) manufacturer, you know...
