If I remember the 4 door E36 was even better balance than the couple. and faster on the track....

Why, a 335i coupe weighs 1615kg whereas a 335i sedan weighs 1600kg, the coupe does not have the weight advantage you think it should, I don't know what the M3 sedan weighs but if it follows the current BMW coupe v sedan fashion then the sedan will be lighter and possibly faster, further disadvantaging the c63.

Edit: just researched your data and it appears your facts are reversed, the coupe is the one that weights 1600Kg. the weight difference is negligible anyways…. Very impressive fact, the question should now be is if the sedan will be as perfectly balanced as the coupe!

Hmmm the BMW Norway fact sheets I have in my crubby little hands show the coupe is heavier, also if you look up the data in carmagazine.co.uk they also say the coupe is heavier.
To give the C63 a sporting chance maybe we should compre it to the upcoming M3 station wagon which will be heavier than both sedan and coupe.

and let’s stop the comparo B.S. I think what most everyone here is trying to get to, well at least myself, is if the sedan M3 can produce the same performance numbers as a coupe, then great! We can use those current coupe test numbers as a reference to make an informed and better decision when shopping for a sedan!! Not a coupe or a station wagon!!
I understand that the sedan M3 produced almost identical performance numbers in the past so this might be a relevant test after all. I would wait for the actual test though before making any assumptions or final decisions about which car to buy.

That was fun. Both are awesome. The drivers, two in a car, looked a bit cramped in the BMW. That's how I feel in my friend's 335i compared to mine. Having driven many BMWs and Benzs, to me a Benz feels a little more intuitive. Granted, the ones I have driven have not been the same caliber of cars as these.

I'd say the E36 and E46 (maybe) models fit into the model of "off the sales-floor track car" but certainly not this new E92 chassis. The car has gotten far too pudgy to be put into those terms and has moved ever so slightly upmarket to make room for the 1-series, the proposed M-version of which (or even the 135) would make an EXCELLENT track car because it retains the most important feature of a track car- light weight.
agree with e36 comment. but, the 1 series is still gonna be heavy.

Firstly the 135i weighs 1560kg, the 335i coupe weighs 1615kg, the 135i is not a liteweight track car by any stretch of anyones imagination.Secondly BMW have said they will not build an M1, that name is not going to be used becuase of the granddaddy of all Motorsport cars the M1. I think they will put into production the Tii concept, that was a stripped out racer type car which is what a lot of people want, very much in the mold of the 2002ti, 2002 turbo and the e30 M3.

As well as the C63, I have also ordered the 135i. For me the c63 is simply not a track tool, but on the road it will be a killer with it's monsters torque. Of course it will also be my weapon of choice if I go to the drag strip. I will be modifying the 135i to be an M3 killer on the track too, and I don't think it would be that difficult.

My AMG spends 100% of the time on public roads. I don't track it. I don't race it. I don't drag it. What I DO do, is commute to work, run errands, and take road trips in a marquee luxury automobile that is comfortable, and has outrageous performance that no luxury limo should ever be capable of performing. You're right in that my AMG is not the best track car, or the fastest around the curve. But the last time any BMW pulled up next to me, they yielded to the AMG's superior torque and straightline performance, knowing that I will beat them to the next light or curve any day, any time, anywhere. Or almost any other car for that matter. THAT's the main reason for driving an AMG.
Jeremy Clarkson said it best in his video. "This C63 tries to KILL you. I LOVE IT."
I've seen the new M3 in person and it's only subtly different from a regular 3 series at first glance. I haven't seen the C63 in person, but if the C300 Sport is any indication, that C63 must look as outrageous as its performance. If I can get over the less luxurious interior of the C63 vs the E63, I'd seriously consider it over the E63. I had a C32 and miss the compact missile feel vs the ICBM I now drive (wonder who's old enough here to remember THESE Cold War references?).
After all, the one universal comment I've noted in all the disparate reviews is that the C63's engine and straightline performance is outrageous. To this day, I refuse to give up my "boys with the coolest toys" mentality. Keeps one's soul young. I can't think of any other vehicle on the market coming up with the blend of outrageous styling, raucous performance, and luxurious practicality that the C63 could have.

I have been trying to explain this point for months. I think that AMG missed the boat 100% with the C63 because it now rides poorly and drives poorly. Before we got a nice ride and poor chassis dynamics but now we have the worst of both worlds.
So in my book the C63 moves us further backwards than we were last time.
But I did ride in a C63 over the weekend and the sound it makes is beyond intoxicating. I could drive that car around all day long just going 0-60 for the sake of listening to it. That and because it is junk in the corners. It was an amazing car. The seats, transmission, motor, brakes all were excellent. I even think it drove well for a car with a three pointed star.
But I have to say it was the nicest driving MB to date (non black series). There was no question about that. (But no M3).
So it is the nicest driving MB ever but it still is not a BMW. Maybe next time!
But I am a former E55k owner who though it was like driving a GMC Tahoe with a huge rocket strapped to the rear. So I am not your normal MB/AMG owner.

I tend to agree with Cylinder Head and CynCarvin32 comments. The C63 (and actually all AMGs) are built to be a powerful luxury street cars, apart from both two cars cost a fortune in the rest of the world, I wonder how often owners will drift a luxury car like they did
? Not to say it is a C63 now, even my 3.5 years old C55 should be able to kill 99% of cars in the street for another 10 years!t

Keep in mind the M3 E36 4 door was a much smaller car than the current E92 4 door. I would say the E36 compares to a compact size car as appose to the current E92 which almost compares to a full size car in today’s standards. A lot more weight to throw around in those twisties with the new 4 door M3, I really can't comment on how well the 4 door M3 will perform but I sure as hell would love to find out!!!
Better yet, I can't wait to see how well the C63 holds up against the current M5 and E63!!

na but let's be real here , the c63 has a little worse handling but still very good since it kept up to the beemer and this m3 is so superior , so the c63 has a superior handling for the street use wich makes no point to get the m3 over the c63

What the motoring mag guys really want is the rebirth of the E30 M3, the original and so far the best plus it's the only one with any real motorsport pedigree (E46 M3 V8 is the only exception). A stripped out lightweight 1 series coupe with a nice high reving 2.5 litre 4 cylinder with 250-300 bhp is just what BMW need to make.

and some of you people are so just wierd , your saying your going to see the comparo to choose on wich car to buy , you go test drive and w.e. is closer to your heart , like when i was getting the 6 speed max , or to get acure tl-s 6 speed i knew acura would be faster on top end with the v tech but i really hated the low end tq it's like the worst feeling in the world , and the car felt agressive and i liked it more it's w.e suits you w.e you think looks better , i would never look on comparo's just my opinion

And make mine a Black Series please Mr. I just love the look of that thing. I also love the new M3. I have owned an E36 M3, E46 M3 and an M-Coupe. I’ve been an AMG convert since only December 07 and it’s a totally different driving experience however it’s an experience I like. But that’s not saying there is anything wrong with the M cars and I guarantee that such is the quality of the BMW M product that you could run that test again with the 4 door M3 when its released and the results will remain unchanged.
