recall the optioning on the slk55 if you need a refresher on MB-style prison rape pricing dynamics.

...unless you're looking for the barest of bare-bones cars, in which case $55k is where it's at.

My C55 based at $53k I think and came out a hair under 60K with the only option missing being NAV. Not sure why the C63 would be any different... Check the option list for a C350 and it should look very similar to what the option list on a C63 will be.

For the 2008 model I think it's safe to say the C63 will come in at 63k totally loaded. Perhaps a tad less...

***EXAMPLE***

C350 Option List
-------------------

Paint: 710
PII: 1350
MM Package: 2950
iPod Kit: 375
Tele Aid: 650

Total = $6035

C63 is 53.8 + 600 Destination + 1300 Guzzler + 6035 in options = 61735.00

Am I missing anything...???

This review has some option prices, and says leather is another $2,950. It also list a price for the Performance Package ($3,900). I wonder if MB has accidentally leaked the price of next year's -30?

It comes with leather interior standard. The Nappa leather is an upgrade. Correct me if I am wrong.

Why would Nappa be an option? Came standard in the C55...

I am confused by the article as well. Just above the text for Nappa it says leather interior is standard. I can't believe that MB would offer a fabric interior as standard for the C63 with $3K leather as an option.

C55 has partial nappa leather, isn't it? Maybe the option on C63 would be all Nappa leather?

I recall Nappa was standard in the C32. I don't believe it was partial either, as it included the door panels as well.

The C63 is offered in the same colors as the other C Class models.

For the U.S., Nappa leather is standard and there are no optional seating surfaces for 2008. There are two color schemes for the leather: Black and Grey/Black.

And the C63's use of leather on the new seats, door panels and arm rest, etc. DO help to make the interior look a bit more luxurious than the other C Class models.

Destination is $825.

Here is a fully optioned C63 using existing C Class prices for the options/packages and a guess at the gas guzzler tax:

2008 C63 AMG (Base) $53,800
Destination $825
(775) Metallic Paint $710
(P02) P2 Package $1,350
(320) Multimedia Package $2,950
(057) iPod Integration Kit $375
(359) TeleAid $650
Gas Guzzler $1,300
Total $61,960

One reason why the base price may be lower than C55.

Wow, that's a great price. I'm glad MB didn't try to totally overprice all AMG cars.

good job MB... price is competative with the Lexus F and BMW M.

Audi is too high and CTS-V will be probably following the price trend.

so many options...!!!

RE: Leather Interior

i was told upon ordering that there is a "leather package" option which includes memory seats for both driver and passenger as well as power adjust steering wheel column. all c-colors are available except sand beige metallic, and the cashmere/savannah interior is not available. this is the latest i got from my dealer.

btw:

look at the official weight... 3650 +/-

a few months back... some mags recorded a weight of 3800 to 3900..

and the M3 at 3500 +/-

now... both cars weigh about the same and are priced the same...

and both can get to $60k very quickly with options.

I still would like to have the MCT on the AMG and the DCT on the M, but not sure being a new product will have too many bugs.

I'll be surprised if the real measured curb weight of the C63 is less than 4000 pounds. Pleasantly surprised I might add. I'm not rooting to be correct on this.

yeah; the part about "Because they can"!!!

I ain't hatin'; i'm as much a drooler over the c63 or bmw 3 as anyone. I just think the "base price" thing is a load, given that the options are all put into "packages" that run several thousand a piece. My 01 SLK had a $4500 option package on it, and if I'd wanted the xenon lights, that'd have been another $4500. In other words, just to get what one would expect from a car in its premium price range, look to add about $10k to the "base price".
