Leather Package?

When I spec'd out my car, I was told there was a leather package but there wasnt too much info on it. Anyways, I selected it, but im debating weather or not I should go and have it removed. Anybody have more insight on this option?

It appears there is a Nappa Leather option that includes the following:

318
242 : Power Passenger Seat w/Memory
275 : Power Dr.Seat & Steering Col. w/ Memory

Price was stated elsewhere on this board as $2,950 for the 318 package.

If if you do not order this package I guess you would just get the regular leather that is avaialable as an option on the other c class models.

Does anyone have confirmation of this. The C350 comes standard with power driver and passenger seating though I'm not sure about memory.

Are we really expected to pay $3K for memory settings?

318 Leather Package
- (242) Power Passenger Seat w/Memory
- (275) Power Dr.Seat & Steering Col. w/ Memory

*****no mention of Nappa Leather available as of yet

This is the optional package, but there is no price on it as of yet.

Black Leather, Black/Sahara Beige, and Grey/Black Leather are standard.

Since the C350 comes with 8-way power-adjustable front seats. Driver's and passenger's adjustable lumbar support and 4-way (tilt/telescoping) manually adjustable steering column as a standard item then it appears that the above package is $3K for memory on the seats and a power adjustable steering wheel.

Am I wrong. That's a lot of cash for so little gain.

Yep, confirmed. The 318 Seating Pkg does include Nappa Leather in addition to the power driver & passenger seats with memory and power steering wheel controls with memory.

Having had the Nappa in other AMGs it's worth it in my opinion.

seems like they're going the BMW route by having a low base price but 15 grands worth of options that should otherwise be standard. If the multimedia package is an option I will be dissapointed. But I am quite cheap.

I agree. I suppose if someone were buying the C63 for primarily a track car, then the buyer would be very thankful that they are not forced to buy options and additional weight they don't need, but I gotta believe that is not the typical buyer, i.e., mostly for track use.

This is not a track car so that approach sounds unlikely. However, another 3k for a loaded version of this car put it just under 65k... Getting a bit expensive...

If 65k is loaded, it's still a good deal compared to the C55. Assuming that a fully loaded C63 has all the same interior goodies (nav, Nappa leather, etc) then you are getting a bigger car, with a much more badass engine, and very unique aggressive styling. If I remember correctly a fully loaded C55 was right around 65k wasn't it?

There is no pricing on the dealer ordering guide for this package as of yet...I just looked this morning and tried to build one and they still do not give exact pricing. Everyone who is pricing these out are using the standard C-class pricing as a base model. I find it hard to believe they would make the upgraded leather package $3k, but they might.

It is still competitive when compared to a comparably equipped M3 and that is what MB were really going after.

No, it was 61,xxx because mine was 59k and the only missing option is NAV.

Either way, it's a hell of a lot better than the previously stated figure of 70k!

The $2950 gets you the memory function for the otherwise power seats, memory and power adjustments for the steering column and upgraded "Nappa" leather.

This really sux. The Nappa should be standard and the memory with power steering column should be the option for $1295 or somewhere close to that...

I know you are adament on this price, but there is nothing per MB on this...I work for a dealer and have tried to get specifics on these optional packages and they all say TBD .

As another member reminded me, Rob Allan (mbusa AMG product manager) did quote both price and content of this package in the recent Private Lounge chat session. That's pretty close to official.

With nappa seating and memory both standard on the C55, this is a hidden price increase. Not surprising considering the state of the dollar and the upgrade in technology, but it does represent decontenting of standard features from the C55.

Yep that is the confirmation point - Rob. Also my dealer called MBUSA today and confirmed it and added that all of the cars at launch will be configured with the 318 package so it appears this will be something you pay for if you want one of the initial cars.

i mentioned this when the price was first announced and i was the bad-guy. in fact, people like you and me know better than to let a suspiciously low MSRP for a benz mean much less than "you'll pay extra for the ignition key fob and tires to drive it off the lot with".

Still not 15k in options but if the 3k leather package holds true then it's getting up there. More like 11k.

Hmm, this is good to know. I grabbed a build slot back in Jan. so I'm guessing I will receive one of the launch cars. This 318 package is one of those things that I'm not sure if I would've opted for it on my own, but if MB already made the decision to configure the initial cars with 318 then I'll gladly accept it.
