Sighted in Hollywood CA 3/15/08

So I come out of Avaland around 3.30ish and stroll down the street to the parking lot south of Hollywood Blvd, and on the way to my car my friend spots a "C63 AMG" sitting in one of the spaces. We go over and look, and there's a new C-class, complete with what appeared to be the proper C63 sport front bumper, but with only twin (not quad) exhaust outlets.

The exhausts made me think it was "faux", but it had the flattened steering wheel and the front bumper... I thought the c63's weren't streeted yet? And what about that tailpipe situation? Actually, come to think of it, the rear diffusor thing between the pipes was different too.

Strange world, especially at 3:30 a.m.!

Yup! You have just witnessed an extremely rare sighting…a C63 poser being born! Great!

The Twin exhaust instead of the quad is the definitive giveaway! What a loser, can't believe he badged it as a C63!!! Any pictures??

pictures... wish i'd had the presence of mind! especially since my current phone actually takes a half-decent pic.

i can't believe the poser-osity of this character, though. he's in the game early. then again, the car had the 6.3 side badging, the proper front bumper, the correct flat-bottom steering wheel... that's putting in an awful lot of effort, and sourcing parts well in advance of the car's showroom debut, isn't it? are c63's other than the "review copies" in Arizona even around, available for delivery/pick-up yet? i thought they were still a couple months away from shipping stateside?

anyway, Victor Calderone's insanely hypnotic tribal/minimal/progressive vibe notwithstanding, i'm certain i wasn't hallucinating in the parking lot!!!

How 'bout the flared front fenders? Correct 5-spoke grey AMG wheels?

I'm surprised the most by the bumper - if it had the shark-gill cutouts and everything. Badging would be easy, and you might be able to tick a box on your C350 Sport order list for an "AMG sport steering wheel," I don't know...

me too. (re the bumper)

i couldn't tell about the fenders b/c i haven't seen/paid attn to the new C's i'm seeing around, for comparison purposes.

the wheels, well... that's one i flat-out overlooked as a consequence of a long night out partying. and i love the look (in pictures so far) of the c63's 5-spoke wheels.

Did you guys ever consider the possibility that he just put a custom exhaust on the thing? The quad tips are kinda lame IMHO.

So you think this guy somehow got a C63 (which noone has) and THEN, didn't like the exhaust so he cut them off and switched to dual tips??

yes, a local tuner shop or benz dealer owner, or owners son or something. wants the hot new benz, shipment comes in, turns around and has a custom exhaust built for it off the bat. doesnt seem too far fetched to me.

going from the AMG quad tips to the stock tips? seems a strange choice, but I suppose taste varies, mano a mano.
