Yeah, this fake race video is more infested than a vagina with herpes!! it's disgusting! I just lost faith in trusting a magazine ever again.
Just watched the video again and new fake scenes keep popping up worse that a herpes outbreak. It’s all supposed to be one race, right?? wrong! Minute 3:12 shows the M3 taking the lead on launch but on minute 3:47, it shows the C63 taking the lead on launch!! This whole thing doesn't make sense and would totally deceive a regular non-enthusiast consumer. I would sue if I was MB corp for sure!
This brings me to a new conclusion in life, I will never trust another video unless it's one full shot with sound to hear both cars at WOT, period.

I think the most of you know the german magazine "Sport Auto"? This month they had a nice shoot-out between the C63 and M3. Here are the Results:
Sport Auto 04/2008
BMW M3 - Mercedes C 63 AMG
Leistung: 420 PS bei 8300/min - 457 PS bei 6800/min
Drehmoment: 400 Nm bei 3900/min - 600 Nm bei 5000/min
Gewicht: 1648 kg (3,9 kg/PS) - 1772 kg (3,9 kg/PS)
Zeit Hockenheim: 1.15,2 min - 1.15,2 min
0 - 100 km/h: 4,9 s - 4,4 s
0 - 200 km/h: 16,3 s - 14,0 s
Both cars are equal on track, in most cases the driver will be the limitating factor. On our Autobahns where the duels will happen, the C63 completely destroys the M3.
greets,
Felix

Good to hear from you. The C63 is totally ‘MENTAL’. We take it up to over 540 BHP. Also full speed de limit. Retail £1250+vat. If we were doing 2 cars and for you then £850+vat per car. I reckon you’ll both be lucky to keep your driving licences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Currently the M3 is doing 0-60 in about 4.4-4.5 seconds. With the DCT arriving in a few weeks, it is said to shorten the 0-60 times by about .3 seconds. So it will actually be VERY close to the C63.

Interesting wonder if they would classify two cars as one in London and the other in Scotland??

In an Autocar comparo tests between the 997 TT, GTR, and M3, the driver actually stated he is an owner of an M3. He also admits he's a bit biased, naturally.

is this true? even a somewhat good driver cant do better with the paddles? and there are what 3 modes right? so to get the best 1/4 mile time would be to leave it in what sport mode and just step on it?

Ok, this video is totally fake! I watched it over and over and it seems as though the race was edited to make it look like the M3 is faster.
The M3 did get a better launch, but the C63 was gaining pretty fast between minute 3:21 and 3:24. almost closed the whole gap and it seemed like it was gaining more on it, by then the Lexus had already fallen behind the 2 cars at 3:24. Now, all of a sudden, M3 starts gaining on the C63 at minute 3:27. that doesn't make sense. to top it off, the final shot shows M3 first, lexus second and C63 third!! How did that happen when it clearly shows the lexus falling behind at minute 3:24. hahaha.. this video is a total rip off, heavily edited. Wonder how much BMW payed these folks. Nice try!

I bet he is in comfort mode...
I have never liked the Autocar clips anyway, but does BMW have to allways win every comparison?
This is just a joke. The c63 is faster and should pull at any speed...

Since I like all these sedans (M3, C63, IS-F) from what I have gathered they are pretty much all equal with each having some sort of advantage in a given category.
Lets not forget all magazine tests take the best run or usually an average of all the runs. So you can just imagine how many runs they did to get that magical number and all the runs that they did not record. I'm sure their first time out was not their best, and i'm sure they ran their share of 13 sec 1/4s in the C63.
So its going to be a drivers race in any situation(1/4 mile, road course). We are talking about average people too, not race car drivers. No car obviously has a clear enough advantage over the other. I just say be happy with the decision you made and not care about what magazine say(who are also paid to say what they say). I know I am looking to get a C63 because all around it seems like the best fit for my needs.
