Break-in

Does anyone here know what the break-in procedure is for the C63 AMG? I know for the M3 it is no going above 5,500rpms, and minimal WOT for 1,200 miles.

a quarter mile at a time
If it's like other MB's, the break-in procedure is outlined in the manual. I don't think break-in is needed on modern cars though.

It's more for the transmission than the engine. While your engine comes broken-in, the tranny still needs to cut its teeth a bit. I'd baby it for a bit just because grenading gearboxes aren't fun.

It will be 1000 miles of no full engine load. After the 1000 miles or so, change the rear diff fluid and no full engine load until the oil temperature is over 80 C.

Umm, there is a reason for breaking in, that's why they put it in the manual and on my other AMG cars, there is a sticker on the windshield outlining the procedure. What would MB gain in making you take at easy during break in?

Whoever said that break in was over-rated.

2002 BMW M3, MB C63 On Order
E46 M3s had a break-in with 5500 rpm max. There was a period of production where due to defective connecting rod bearings, engines were blowing. Until they figured out it was the defective parts (many months later), some were denied warranty coverage for hitting the rev limiter during break-in. They were without their cars and/or engine warranty coverage for months.

Ignore the break-in at your own risk.
