Insurance?!

Hey All,

Got my 63 arriving in July ('09, pewter with sahara beige and black maple) and considering some performance upgrades for the fun of it. My insurance company gets a little antsy when it come to modifications so just wanted to ask if anyone has had found one insurance company to be better than another when you've modified your AMGs?

Thanks for your help on this dull topic (nicer to see pics of folks taking delivery!).

The insurance company shouldn't care if you modify the car. But if you get in an accident those parts might not be covered.

As long as they are ALL DOT approved. Watch out for stainless brake lines that are NOT DOT approved, as the insurance company will flag you and DENY your claim if they see these. IT HAS HAPPENED here in PA already.

See yeah

I guess I'm most concerned that if the worst happened (never has but caution is good) and then the insurance adjuster notices a few things under the hood and realizes that the 451bhp C63 they thought they were insuring is actually 550bhp things could get a little sticky.

cant speak for the AMG's but if im not mistaken, most insurance companies dont care how much power youre putting out after modifications.

i built a 1970 monte carlo with 475hp, but my insurance company never cared bout that. they insured a 1970 monte carlo with 300 FACTORY hp

never paid more than 75 bucks a month for that car.....

question about insurance: do you think it'll be cheaper if I own an old prius and claimed that as my DD and my c63 as weekend car? or if i just ONLY own a c63

I honestly don't think it will matter.

I think the insurance companies insure you on the most expensive car now. It doesn't matter much about the miles either. I know they told me that when my 16yr old starts to drive they will be insured for the most expensive even if they never drive it.

Insurance

GEICO has been good to me in the past on rims and stereo equipment. I switched to State Farm, who had lower rates.......but I didn't have to file a claim. I'm back with GEICO now. Just be sure to list it as a pleasure vehicle.
