Hard Decision: Purchasing a NEW 2008 MB. C63 or E550??? help me please!
Hello! I am getting a new car but for me its a super hard decision, it's basically either a brand new 2008 E550 or a brand new C63 AMG. The E-class will be basically fully loaded:

As for the C63, Im not sure what the options are but im sure i'll probably look for options that are similar to the ones I chose in the E-class. I am aware that the E-class has options that the C-class does not offer (one of the reasons why i am considering the E-class). I'm single and do not have any kids, I just want a car that I can enjoy, but have the luxury, and the luxury of being fast. That's about the jist of everything.

Dude, your not even talking about two similar cars!!! I have an E class also (and have had the 550 engine on the CLS), so I know.
The E class is a nice luxury family car, even with the 550, yes it performs well, but the E class does not have the performance/feel or "genetic" makeup or mechanicals to even compare to the C63 or any AMG product...
The C63 is a serious performance sedan... The look, feel and overall purpose are complete opposites.

Your single, and it seems to me that since you put the catback exhaust on your current car, you are somewhat inclined towards the performance aspect of a vehicle and the rumble it generates, the e class is a bigger luxury car with a little bit of pep compared to the c63 which is smaller in interior volume but is a serious performer with a huge bark and a huge bite to match. You got to decide if you want the bigger luxo car or the sporty sedan. Given the choice, I went with the C63, totally different car than your other choice.

I had the exact same debate over the same 2 cars. I went and test drove a E350 just to see how it felt as far as size and it was like a tank compared to the C. If you had kids I would go for the E but if you don't have kids go with the C63. Luxury = E Sport = C

If you want sport, do it right and get the C63.
I tried the combo approach with my current car ('07 BMW 550i Sport). Excellent car in every way except if I'm really honest, I get no buzz from it. My old e46 M3 was a thrill every time I got in and turned the key. My upcming C63 will be the same. My "compomise" car? Loooks great, very comfortable, great handling, very fast and.........kinda boring. Makes me feel like a cog-in-the-big-wheel company exec, which I guess I am but it's much mroe fun to forget and feel like a nut instead

I would get the c63 forsure.
The E550 is gonna be outdated soon when the new E-classes come around.
The c63 is a beast but it is also very very classy. especially in black!

My 0.02? If you want luxury, do it right and get a 1 year old S-Class - about the same price as a new E550 and a way way better car. Consider that the E is about to be replaced anyway adn in truth, it is starting to show it's age and it does come from that part of benz history that we'd rather forget re: quality, brake by wire etc..
If you want sport, do it right and get the C63.

thanks everyone for your decisions. I have one questions. It seems like the E550 just came out not too long ago. Are they coming out with a new body style and engine selection??? Correct me i'm wrong. kinda confused, cuz I thought the E550 was a new chassis style.

haha thanks! all the local dealers dont have any c63's around. They already sold them all. Basically im really going for the c63 now, but the only thing that is still iffy to me is the luxury options. Like having the electonic trunk closer, bluetooth, pana roof, keyless go, GPS, illuminated door sills, all those goodies. I haven't been able to see the available c-class options for the C63 AMG, but i do know that some of those options are not available, but not sure which, and i am pretty big on those little details, not sure why.

Not sure how you feel about driving an out of date model, but keep that in mind.
Plus with our prices dropping like rocks, unless you lease or buy with cash, she's gonna go upside down on ya pretty fast. May end up stuck with it for awhile.

Get a used CL
For $72,000 why not get a used SL 55? Or a used CL65? You are single and no kids so why get a four door car?
Or get a used CLS 55 or E63, ... The E550 is a very fast car, but if you want a wickedly fast car you are going to have to go with an AMG these guys are right about that. The E550 is much much faster in every way than your E430, but still you can't put a price on all those AMG engineered parts that go into an AMG car.
