Waiting for your '09?
How about the rest of you guys? Anyone else in the same position? What have you heard?
Thanks
Anyway, I hope they release your car soon.

Impatient as I am I've pushed the dealer, who in fairness can't do much, I called MBUSA who say they can't help as the call center had no contact witht he Baltimore VPC and I've searched the web high and low for a VPC phone number so I can get on the phone and provide some gentle, positive encouragement.
The reality? I'm just gonna have to wait it out. I'm not very good at that.
It's their largest market yet they make some really questionable decisions. eg. no 19" wheel option was "a marketing decision." It's a shame when you see a Jag XF with better wheel options than a C63. OK, I'm rambling...
So my car is built (what date exactly I'm not sure), I have a VIN, and I don't know if my car is still in Germany, in route, or what...

What is the advantage of a dealer getting a car on their lot verus special order or obtaining from another dealer's inventory?
When I owned my custom shop, we were looking at bringing in a few high end cars, F cars, P cars, etc. We started talking to brokers about floor planning. Basically, they "own" the car, I use that term loosely, we would have been given a lump sum, or say 500k or 1mil. We could have stocked to show room with 500k or 1mil in "value" of cars, but only paid an interest payment on the total value, sort of like leasing only at a deep discount. Now, when the car is sold and a bank assigns a loan, you are paid, they get paid, and you hopefully walk away with a bit of profit, so eventually you don't need to floor plan as much.
Its all a game..

Also, the dealer called me yesterday morning and said he has an '09 white on black ready for sale. I decided to wait for mine.
