My Dealer will install Perf. Pkg post-purchase

Got my new "limited performance package" C63 last week. I have been mulling over how to extend my warranty, how much refund I wanted to get back, etc. Now my dealer tells me that MBUSA is planning on letting them install the *full* performance package on my car.

The way that they are telling me now is that it's all-or-nothing--I can't pick and choose what I want.

This tends to make me think that there might be a few cars who didn't even get the LSD or upgraded speed limiter.

They're going to let me know what MBUSA tells them on Thursday.

What would you guys do? The only thing I'm iffy about is the suspension. It's pretty stiff as it is now. How stiff (and jarring!) is the performance package suspension?

Thanks dudes.

Tracking it? - get PP
No - don't.

Pretty simple.

Only real reason for the PP on street only use was the nice carbon fiber - but that's pretty price for what you're getting. The rest of the goods are useless on a street. At least streets like mine (straight, bumpy, traffic and cop filled)

CF is not standard on PP cars, its a stand alone option in the US

the main reason i wanted the PP tho was the suede steering wheel

Me too! I want that steering wheel. I wonder if they sell it as a stand alone. Hmm?

Can the PP be driven daily on the AZ roads? I don't want to order the PP and then I can't even put the car under normal driving conditions. My plan is to drive the car daily until March 2009 at which point I'll be able to buy another car and the C63 will become the weekender. Thoughts?

Compared to NYC, yes, our roads are perfect:-)

What should i watch out for in my new C63? What types of road hazards to avoid? Is it just the obvious potholes or is there more? Can you tell I've never owned a car like this before? hehehe!

Going on a test drive would probably answer most of your questions

Sounds like to me. I believe they are telling you that because they blew it and did not order the car the way you wanted it. I cannot see them adding all the parts and pieces that make up the 030 option. I would get the $$$ back for the option and call it good.

Sounds like BS since and I quote from #4 in the letter dated Aug. 5th, 2008 from MBUSA sent to all dealers about the PP (030) " Due to labor and logistics involved, MBUSA does not plan to offer a retrofit"

If you dealer is doing something different, you had better get it in writing from the dealer that clearly spells out what they will and will not due.

Good luck, -Troy

No no.....

let him hang himself.

Left to himself the ON PROBATION will read BANNED sooner or later.

He has a 650 so maybe he will go talk to 650 owners soon. They can talk about putting 3 women in the back seat and how they like getting attention from gold digging bimbos!

I have spoken with MB and they are offering $1504 or a retrofit. Both of which I think are horrible solutions. They seem to think that a dealer retrofit is the same as a factory installation. Why did I waste all this money on a AMG?

Why do you think it is a "horrible" solution? What would be a good solution then?

It's your money, don't buy the car. Re-order if you want the whole package.

It's amazing how much energy some of you spend agonizing over this. Tons of threads and posts. I'm starting to think that having the P30 is just something you need for your ego.... I bet if most who are ordering drove a P30 and a non P30 car back to back, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway... which is why THEY ABSOLUTELY NEED THAT PURTY STEERING WHEEL... lol.

Sorry guys I had to pop off.

+1.

At the same time, I understand people's frustrations. This is a little different than going to dinner and ordering a cheeseburger, but instead receiving a hamburger. Lots of time and money involved here.

When you ordered the car there was that tiny little statement along the lines of..."packages and options may change without prior notice." MBUSA is offering cashback for parts of the package they aren't providing for. Hey, I waited half a year for a C63, only to be dissapointed as only two of features were present (the ones I ddin't care for!). I didn't b!tch and moan, I'll just wait until I can order the full package!

I have an order in (08/30 build) and just as I was trying to decide whether to go with PP or not we had an AMG tour event here in Chicago. Last Saturday (08/09) I had the chance to drive a car w/o the PP and one with (although it turns out the suspension may not have been part of the package).
Long story short I am not getting the PP since for my purpose (daily driver) the car feels stiff enough. I track a Cayman S and although I will bring the Benz to the track (at least once or twice) I don't want to compromise the other 363 days of the year. Maybe if I lived in a warmer clime where the roads are smoother the story would be different. Shame we can not have the LSD as a stand alone though!
