Question Brakes

Has anyone taken the C63 onto the track? For those who have, did you experience brake fade when slowing this beast of a machine for corners? Also does the car downshift when you're braking hard enough to engage ABS? I was on the M3 forums the other day and they were complaining how the M-DCT would not downshift when the ABS was engaged while braking. Just wondering if such issues apply to the C63.

Also would the factory rotors be strong enough under track conditions or will they crack if pushed too hard?

a quarter mile at a time
C63 comes with 6-piston fixed calipers and 360mm rotors. They should stand up well to track use.

For comparison, I believe the E9x M3 uses a single or dial piston floating caliper setup.

AMG C63 S
anybody know if the C63 has steel-braided brake lines? They help a lot with brake fade.

Not true sir:

Stainless steel brake lines, in theory, ONLY prevent balloning of the rubber line from the fender to the caliper. They have NOTHING to do with fade. Note I siad in theory, because I have NEVER seen a stock line ballon at the track in my 20 some years of racing.
Above all else, if you do buy them, PLEASE make sure that they are D.O.T. approved. Otherwise your insurance company will have a field day with you if you are ever involved in an accident my friend.

See yeah

I drive my C63 like I do every car I've ever owned, HARD. I've never experienced anything close to fade or warping in the C63, and I've experienced fade and warped many sets of rotors in other vehicles.

The c63 has pretty good brakes from factory, they don't experience brake fade in std setup on most tracks.

As for rear wheel lockup on down shift, the C63 has load change free down shifting due to the blipping throttle. This stops the car from becoming unsettled when downshifting due to a compreesion lockup. This is a new feature to AMG's and it works very well!
