Got my car! 1st Mars Red C63 on forum? 1st Impressions
- First thing, the car got an exterior detail given it was filthy from the open transport from New Orleans to Phoenix.
- Next stop was the window tinter. 20% on the sides and rear.
- Next stop was the stereo installer. Given that the car I had to go with didn't have the NAV package, we pulled the stock head unit and starting figuring out how to install an aftermarket one. I'm not sure how I will decide, but it IS possible to install a 7" combo Kenwood NAV/DVD/iPod/Bluetooth/Sirius tuner in the stock space, but it would require some custom finish work to deal with the gaps, you would have to relocate the seat heaters and you would then have the stock flip up screen at the top be useless as well as the iDrive knob... I really don't like how MB did the radio with a screen above the vents, a deck below the vents and then a knob controller on the console... I have to think about this some more...
- I know many of you don't think Mars Red is right for a Mercedes OR that's it's a girl's car color, but I LOVE IT.
- The car handles and brakes GREAT! I previously had a 2007 ZO6 and I like this car WAY MORE! The ZO6 had tons of torque and power, but the ZO6 felt "cheap". The body panels and the interior just didn't feel as quality as the C63 and now I can get 5 people in the car too for even a little less than I paid for ZO6.
- I have been in contact with VRP and in two weeks I am driving from Phoenix out there to get their VR570 mods (pulleys, filters, headers, and tune) as well as a Quaife LSD. I am told the car will dyno at 570 flywheel horsepower or around 470rwhp. I can't wait to have a car that can haul the family, drive smooth on nice roads, and go 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and do the quarter mile in under 12 seconds.
- I have not really pushed it (I am going to take it easy on the car for the first 1,000 miles), but I am totally pleased with how well the car brakes and corners, although you really feel the bumps on rough roads.
- I love the exhaust note.
- I am a little intimidated by all the stuff to learn. I read the manual for about an hour and a half while the windows were getting tinted and setting up the radio, bluetooth, memory's, phone book, remote's, etc. appears is going to take some time.
- So, overall I am one happy camper. Thanks to everyone on the forum for their help. Attached are some pictures.

I can't wait for you to get the VRP stuff and review it. I might be interested in their tune as well.
Enjoy!!!

Do one thing, please get before/after dyno results and post them as soon as you can since there are a lot of people wanting to mod their cars and not enough dyno/proof for what is out there.
Thanks,
Jason
Can't wait to see your Dyno's from VRP. Hurry up!!!!

I hope you are off today out enjoying your new car.
Yes, the ZO6 I had was red too!!!
I got the windows tinted at Airport Tint near the Scottsdale Airport. $250 for the sides and rear. 480-315-8468.
Anyone else actually tint the front windshield???
Lastly, yes it's hard to restrain myself. I just want to hit it hard in sport mode and play a little with the ESP off somewhere safe, but all I've done so far is take it to 4,000 rpms in comfort mode. It just feels like it is starting to power up at that point.
VRP will do pre and post dyno runs. The work is already scheduled for 9/8 & 9/9.
Thanks again.
