Aren't the VRP filters good for our cars as well? Anyone using them? The people who are using drop in filters, is it true you can hear the motor a little better, if you do, in what way? Thanks.

I just put in BMC filter yesterday. Not sure it makes a difference as I'm still ruuning-in the car. At low end, its sound more or less the same or maybe my hearing is not as good as the guys here. The reason I put them is because most of the German tuners only replaced the filters w/o the carbon fiber intake. So, I thought it should be enough.

Is it hard to change it??
I haven't had a proper look at the engine bay.
Need any tools or do we jus pop the intake open, swap it over, and thats it??

Or is it covered and gotta take a cover off??

btw how much did u get the BMC filter for??

The BMC is listed for about 90 each on their website while K&N is listed at about 50 each. So it's about twice as much but does BMC really gain that much? I tried looking for a gain on both of em for comparison but I can't find it....

tools as in normal tools or special tools that only dealers would have?? lolz
If its like normal wrench tool set, then I guess i could give it a try...

As for the price difference between BMC and K&N....
double the price, i doubt double the power gain, so i think i'll stick with K&N one since its cheaper!! haha

Anyone heard about ITG ones??

also heard BMC is much less oily than K&N. Haven't experienced it first hand, but plenty enough people have reported MAF sensor malfunctions even on stock K&N before re-oil. Others dispute this point though, but where there's smoke, there's usually fire...

I think the dropin filters are a waste of money. You might get couple or more hp. But is it really worth it?

All you need is a T25 Torx and a flat head.

Does 'more air' means its actually letting clean air in?
Or is it jus letting semi-filtered air in?? Lolz

Normally more air = good, but if its not filtering it properly, thats no use either...

I hate too many choices

I've decided to go the K&N because of price.

Found it to be like almost 1/2 the price of the BMC.
I'm mainly wanting it so don't hafta change the paper filter every once in a while. Its not like the c63 doesn't have enough power already so an extra 1-2kw from the BMC isn't worth double the price lolz

I have had the VRP filters for a year on my car but haven't put too many miles on it. motor might sound a little louder on WOT... i also took out the charcoal filters behind the stock air filters.

Just got BMC F1 filters installed today...definitely feel a difference. Is it a huge difference, no, but like I said you can definitely feel a difference. If you can afford to spend the extra money do it!!!!

Very noob question....

Tried to look at where to plug the 2 filters in, and not too sure.
Don't wanna start taking bits and pieces off unless I kno exactly where it is and what to do.

So here's the engine:

Am i meant to take these covers off??:

If someone's a pro here, how many screw thingys am i meant to be taking off? (so I don't go off taking too many off!!)
I'm assuming I take the 3 that is visible off, but do I hafta undo anything else?? (ie, the silver thing to the right of the red handle)

Thanks for any help!!

Hey guys... can some1 tell me if replacing it with a K&N air filter will make put the MAF sensor off, hence showing a problem in the car??

I've jus been told in another thread that it 'could' and I dont really wanna risk that chance!

Thanks!

Dont over oil the filter and you will never have said problem.

People only have issues when the filters have far too much oil on them and it gets sucked into the sensors/engine
