problems with c63

Hi people,

Just wanted to know if anyone is having issues with the c63. I have an 08 and this is the 4th time i have taken it in because the tire pressure monitor sensor keeps going off and on occasion, the check engine oil and next refueling sensor comes on. Three times already, MB service ppl say there is nothing wrong with tire pressure and they cant figure out the engine oil problem but there is no leak. Also, i have horrible break sqeal with this car. In fact, sometimes, it is embarrasing to drive around town and it sqeals right before a full stop and from trafic light to trafic light. They say this is normal but i have drive M3s and 911s with big breaks and they dont sqeal like these. I have taken it in again and sat with the service foreman and he said they will fix the sensors but cant promise anything about the brakes.

If anyone is having the same kind of problems, could you please share and offer any suggestions. Thank you.

Change your pads.
My wifes BMW Z4M did the same thing with the tire pressure monitor.
I had to overfill by a couple PSI. IN Fact my GT3 did that too.
Had to over fill by a couple PSI. I mean like 2 PSI not 20 lbs.
try it and see if it works.

I dont know what brake pad to suggest but every aggressive car I have had
has a brake squeal or noisy brakes. Especially the PCCBs on the two GT3s I had. I just lived with it.

For starters don't trust some of the MB mechanics, you should try resetting the tire PSI sensors on your car computer. Just read your owners manual where it says (I read something that states setting tire sensors) when adjusting PSI on 4 tire wheel sensors. As far as your breaks are concerned, I have not encountered any problems as of yet (knock wood) 650 mi so if I was you, I would have them start replacing Pads then Rotors. It shouldn't squeal to point of embarrassment, sorry just me I would break there chops 4 sure. Good Luck!

c63 prblems

Thanks for the input people.

So i got the car back from the dealer today and they told me that i had a tiny nail in the rear tire, which they discovered the 4th time i brought it in and they said that would account for the tire pressure monitor. As far as the engine oil sensor, they said it was low 2 quarts, despite the fact that i have already put in a quart 2 months ago, they said this is not uncommon with amgs.

My biggest issue now with them is that they told me i need new rear tires and the tread is finished, in the center of the tires, not the outer edge. I told them i have never raced my car or peeled off the line so i dont understand how i need new tires after only 8k miles. Again, they said this is normal wear due to heavy torque to rear tires but i just dont believe that i would need new tires every 8k miles or so. Anyone think differently? Thanks again.

How many high performance cars have you owned? Not trying to be mean just trying to understand. You need to readjust your thinking with these kinds of cars. The P Zero is an aggressive tire. Not TOO aggressive but still aggressive.
The wear rating is in the 200's. My GT3 tires wore out in 4,500 miles without me racing or being aggressive. The wear rating on that tire (Michellin Pilot Sport Cups) was around 80. So this tire the Pzero is twice that. Guess what you got 8,500 miles. Just about right. I had a very similar tire in the Michellin Pilot Sport 2 Same basic wear rating 250 or 280 something like that. So youre going to get around 8000 to 10000 miles without tracking it.
Track it and the wear is going to be faster.
You are just about right at 8500. This car is a monster. its close to a race car right out of the box. Brake pads oil tires are going to be consumables on this car. THink of it that way and you dont feel so bad when you have to replace stuff. Its the cost of doing business with this car.
Guys who track will use 1 set of tires, a set of brake pads and a oil change EVERY weekend.
Hope this helps

If the tires are wearing in the centers, they are more than likely over inflated.

Lower the tire pressure.

We started using the Kumhos for our G35, and they're wearing great at the right price:

Had some problems with correct tire pressure monitor coming on. I went in three times before they fixed it. They never could explain the issue.

Cheap interior quality and the constant noise from the dashboard and the chair.

Speaking of............I was surprised the recommend pressure according to the door sticker is over 41 lbs. I think it says 41 front / 45 back?

Invest on a really good tire pressure gauge, check tire air pressure when its cold regularly and every pay check or trust fund check put some away for the car, so it will not shock you.

Damn, and I thought the M3 was bad (typically got around 12K miles on the rears; 15K+ on the fronts).

The C63's gonna take some getting used to in the tire wear dept...

8k is actually good! I got about 8k with my C55. I'm hoping for 6.5k.

2 yaw sensors to date (2009) both first triggered immediately after exiting a car wash with undercarriage jets.

For brake squeal, accelerate to 25 mph or 60 mph and brake very hard!! to a stop or reverse and hard brake !!

Another brake solution that I forgot about is bedding in the pads.
do a search on bedding in brake pads or google it.
there is a elaborate process involving driving to 70 or so
and smashing on the brakes and repeating to bed in the pads
This might make the squeal go away.

Hope this helps.

hahahahaha i changed my tires at about 4000 miles and due to change them agin soon. the p zeros and to small dont BUY them agin, if you want good grip go and buy pilot sports 2 275/35/18 for rear i got conti contact2 on my car 275/35/18 and they grip but not like ps2. trust me you need wider tires on this car, then you wont change them that often. good luck drive safe
