This is why people need to stay away from this high priced stuff. Get some headers installed and go to a custom exhaust shop that would be money better spent. Maybe there is a reason i know no benz owner with Supersprint stuff.
% wise this is a big waste of money. I would challenge anyone with a full supersprint exhaust system to sound better and meaner than my C55 with full custom exhaust or even a C63 with custom exhaust.

We'll be doing a full stainless exhaust (longtubes to tailpipe) for the C63 immediately after MIR. Total system price will be WELL below SS and again we will not sacrifice performance or quality.
Thanks

Check out my pics in the "cut outs installed" thread. The stock manifolds neck down to 2 3/8" and the 2.5" diameter stock tubing is insufficient for a 6.2/4v with top end like ours--not to mention the large dents in the tubing around the rear diff. I agree the sound is great but it needs more flow badly. Full exhausts will make good power on the C63s, no question.

The most I'd be willing to pay for an exhaust on a c63 would be 2500 to MAYBE 3000$ Again, 10,000 for a c63 exhaust is way too high. ****, that's near lambo price.

I just dont get the high priced stuff for this car! The bypass exhaust for a 2007-2008 Porsche 911 GT3 was 1600. I repeat $1600 USD. Thats for a 120K to $150k(RS version) car. Exhausts aren't rocket science and certainly an exhaust for this car at $65K shouldnt be $10k Even if they fly out the Technician for the install accompanied with a New York governor level hooker for customer(Included in price).
Its like these guys think no one else on the planet can do this stuff.
I agree with Andy that the stock exhaust is restrictive and could be opened up with headers and bigger pipes. But I also agree with Exiges that this is the best sounding V8 I have ever heard and does NOT need a sound change.
I dont know if this means you can open it up, upstream from the exhaust and keep the mufflers stock, or just install headers, but nothing needs to be done with the sound. Its perfect in the cockpit and perfect outside.

Andy,
Are you going to use "off-the-shelf" mufflers from Magnaflow/Borla or have them custom made? There was this guy from one of the M3 boards (E92) who had a shop custom make one by piecing mandrel bends and two Magnaflows. It sounded real good.

We make our own straight through and baffled mufflers, as well as do all our own bending/fabricating, etc. We may modify the stock mufflers (since I know how much everyone loves the stock AMG exhaust tips) if they prove not to be too restrictive. We use 304 Stainless and everything has a lifetime warranty on it.
BTW, a full exhaust for a Jeep SRT8 lists at $2950 or so. Even quality full GT500 exhausts are $3k or so.

Supersprint has always been in this price range. Dont like it? dont buy it.
A lot of the E55 guys run Supersprint full exhaust which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 12K. I also agree that the price is too high, but they are by far the best exhaust system money can buy

Youre right I dont like it and I wont buy it.
This motor as we all know is a detuned 500hp++ motor. The exhaust
will free up some and the ECU will free up the hp that AMG took away.
There is no reason to buy a 10-12K exahust system for THIS street car. The HP thats missing in the C63 should easily and inexpensively be recouped in this car. Even the magazines are saying so. If you want a 10-12K system for this car then you have more money than needed. Especially in this economy.
Heck if AMG builds a stock exhaust that takes 10-12K to repair, as it were,
then they should be ashamed. I wouldnt spend 12K on a 140k Porsche GT3, thats absurd.

I too, would hate to lose the AMG tips. What does the inside of an AMG muffler look like anyway? Chambers? Baffles? Straight flow?

I think the C63 with the original exhaust is TOTALLY nice, fine, good, throaty, etc etc ... all sorts of words ....
I really dont see any point of changing it .... not to mention 10k.

I feel that the only reason the supersprint is the best money can buy is that they are the only one money can buy (i think???). For what you get for the money its the biggest performance waste per dollar. Supersprint is for the guy who must have the most expensive mods money can buy. Total joke IMO. A custom exhaust shop could build you a killer system for 1k. Then you could take your lady on a nice vacation with the rest of the loot you saved. Dont get me wrong Supersprint isn't the only one over pricing mods for mercedes. All tuners are do it. Really I dropped 2500 on headers only to find out a custom local header shop could have built me longtube headers for 1500. To all the new C63 owners that are new to Mercedes, If you can go custom do it it will save you money. Anyone in AZ who wants to know a good custom exhaust shop at a fair price PM me.

It's very restrictive--2.5" with a 2 3/8" neckdown at the manifold collector, 4 cats, and large dents around the rear diff. If we can make 30hp with a swap and keep the same note and close to the same volume, I think more than a few would be on board.
