Got my 2000K Service Today, Question.
Well the car now has 1700 on the clock and things are good. I have managed to restrain myself and only perform 3 standing starts without the TC turned on. WOW
that's fun.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Question.. My invoice does not say what type of diff fluid was used. My dealer said he did make it a point of checking with MB to make sure the correct limited slip diff fluid was used. The service manager showed me the bottle, but no were on the bottle did it say for a limited slip diff (the back of the bottle was in German anyway). The fluid was in an OEM MB bottle with a part number #A001989170310 and the front of the bottle said "Universal Hypoid Gear Oil", SAE 85-90.
Can any of you guys tell me if this was the right stuff for my limited slip diff, thanks.
As for changing the oil the invoice just said "First Service Visit Performed", is that changing the oil change? If so the visit was straight forward.

I was told they won't change the oil until the computer tells you to (unless you insist upon it).
I had to get a check engine light fixed (CAM sensor) and I asked them to check my oil in case it had burned some and was down. They said it was fine, but that the computer would tell you if the car gets low on oil...

Wrong stuff. The correct oil will NOT have MB anywhere on it. It will say Castrol. Unusual for Mercedes-Benz because all there usual fluids have MB all over the bottles. 1.2 L of Castrol 75W-140 is required.

Post is correct. LSD fluid is Castrol 75-140. Additionally MB requires new fill plugs. As of two weeks ago there was no USA stock.Mine had to be shipped from Germany. Took about a week! MB claims that the tapered plugs get the threads reshaped upon their initial torqueing and reusing them requires over-torqueing to avoid seepage. This over-torqueing could ultimately damage the aluminum housing. Based on several posts it appears most dealers ignore this precaution and reuse the drain and filler plugs

I'm new to MB and WOW!!!
I just realized by looking at my own sheet that the wrong gear oil has been in my vehicle for the last 2,000 miles.
I expect this crap from Ford, but not Mercedes

I forget where I got this. It may have been the private lounge. Two different gear oils are recommended.
The MB recommended differential fluids are:
Castrol SAF XJ 75W-140 or MB 235.61 AMG Hypoid Gear Oil 0019895203 75W-140
The fill capacity is 1.2 liters."
I hope that helps you out.

Thanks, I went back to the dealer this morning, I told them what happend and it son happens they got the Castrol in thismorning and did a quick change out. Turns out the Diff fluid MB send had the wrong part number on it, so I don't fault the dealer. I only ran the car like 10 miles with the other non-slip fluid so I am sure it is fine.

See post #6 above also. I went to get my diff oil changed today, insisted they read the service bulletin for this, and sure enough, the drain plug needs to be replaced as well. They had to order from Germany, so I had to reschedule to next week. Good luck!

For those of you that have had this service performed, is it a complimentary service or on your dime? Just curious as I've moved from the BMW camp to Mercedes so I'm adjusting to not having all maintenance covered,
TIA

Only for P30?
I read in the manual having the rear diff fluid changed at 2K miles, but is this only for the P30 package with the LSD? I don't have the P30, and am approaching 2K.
