For those who Need Winter Tires...
Well what are you all thinkin for winter tires?
My idea was to mount some winter tires on the stock rims and get other rim/tires for summer. I know an 18 this wide is not ideal for winter driving, but I wanted to know what other owners will be picking for tires.
I was pondering the Goodyear Ultra Grip or the Blizzak tires? Any suggestions anyone?

I have Pirelli P240 Snowsport that are going to be mounted on my OEm 18's as I have the 19 inch euro multi spoke for the summer.

I've already posted several times on mine. I got the Dunlop Wintersport M3s. Pictures of the wheels I got are in the photo section. They are cheap and they actually look pretty good. Check out the wheels, tires, suspension and brakes section too in the main area.

All I can say is - I've put mine on already (was the guinea pig car for Tire Rack) and boy does it suck driving on dry roads while it's 70f out with these on. Any gear, hard throttle and the car is dancing. But, that's the price we pay to actually survive snow.

C63, Scuderia, 599, 16M, AEV Hemi Jeep, '57 Porsche Speedster, '55 300SL, SLS on order
I have Vredestein wintracs and they are great - Had them on my E55 and ML63 - they are MUCH better than the Dunlops, Blizzaks etc IMHO - they handle well in the dry and rain (and the snow of course), do not wear out quickly and the road noise is good.

I am going to put in an order for the Blizzak LM-25's not going to stagger them though, just 235/40/18 all around. Don't think there should be any issues on the rim width if I don't stagger them.

Are you putting those on the OEM wheels? What's the width of the wheels in the back?

I live in northern NJ/NYC area so the roads gets plow fairly quickly. This is why I chose the Dunlops over the more aggressive snow/ice bite of the LM25s
The size was recommended to me by Luke @ tirerack (he mentioned not to bother with the staggered setup)
Also got a set of cheap rims: 18x8 Sport Tuning Glide Bright Sil

I just realized I have a problem with my tires. The back are Alpin PA3 and the front are PA2. Will that cause any problems for me?

Hey George, You should be fine but personally I would go back to your Tire guy and demand PA3's for the front. Was it your dealer that made the mistake??

Barry, I got the tires ordered from Costco. I was just looking at them now and realized they were two different sets. I am sure they will return them.

I have Continetal T810S 225 x 18 tires on my c63
Just had our first snow storm and I wasnt impressed. Dont grip too well in braking and I got stuck on my own driveway and there wasnt that much snow.
I will be talking to dealership!!!!
