Escort SRX

Anyone have any experience with installing the SRX on a C63? Trying to get some ideas on the best place to put the in cabin display, the led light and the remote mute button. I am to have my dealer install it in the next week or so and want to have some idea of what has work/has not worked for others.
Pics are always helpful and welcome.

TIA

I had a Passport 9500ci installed a few weeks ago. http://www.escortradar.com/9500ci.htm

The 9500ci is the latest and greats custom install unit (that is the CI part) form Escort. I could give you some feedback on that unit if you like?

I think the escort and Passport install is the same:

1. Grab escort (or Passport)

2. Put in glovebox, close

3. Call ValentineOne.

4. Order V1

5. put on windshield.

6. just kidding.

I hear you; I actually have a V1 in my long haul highway car (TL) and have not been pulled over in 4+ years with it. The issue is that I really need the laser shifters and could have put together a package with Blinder, LPP, LI etc that would get me there, but I wanted a stealth install. I would have loved to go with V1 again, but after doing a ton of research on the subject I concluded that the Escort with the shifters was the way I need to go. I wish V1 had a total package and was able to be factory designed stealth install.

The 9500ci is the Mac Daddy of systems and I would have loved to pick one up, but no one was dealing at all on them. I was able to get a new SRX for almost 1/2 price and could not find enough reason to spend another $800+ on the 9500ci. I think that I will have about 85-90% of the capabilities of the 9500ci from a shifter/detection standpoint with the SRX.

That is a great system from everything I read about it, just a little too rich for me.
I would love to see the install pictures of the front shifters if possible. Also, where did you have the wires run in the car, where did you put the display box, etc.

Thanks for the offer of feedback on it I look forward to your impressions.

the 9500ci is *definately* the system to get but right now the price is pretty high. The SRX is still a good detector but its starting to get dated technology-wise. Same goes for the V1 but they still beat most other detectors out there.

As far as mounting the SRX (or the 9500ci for that matter) the display can be custom mounted in the cluster but its a big job. we have a display/control module coming out soon that will put everything up on the cluster which will make for a total stealth install. expect to see that pretty soon.

I have the V1 and MidCity Engineering module so that it shows on the factory display - Very fine set up - MidCity did a great job developing it and their customer service is awesome.

AND I did a Blinder install that is stealth as well - Two diffusers in the grille and one above the rear plate. The warning light for the Bliner is mounted in my left a/c duct (no obstruction of air flow and you can see the green/red light easily) and I did a cut off for the Blinder under the steering column - I like to shut down after initial encounter when I scrub off enough speed - no need to keep jamming. Very simple and very stealth.

I just chatter with Escort and asked about the tech status of the SRX and they assured me that it has the same updated tech on the radar and shifters and the 9500ci, I asked the question several different ways and they said that major difference is the GPS and the RDD for Spectrum on the 9500ci, everything else is the same.

I would love the see this when it is available, do you have pictures and pricing yet while you are finishing up development?

Ape if you need a Jammer just let me know. I can make a one kilowatt jammer that will, if the kind officer turns on his laser, will toast his gonads and blow up the gas tank, however that would be illegal in most states.

I guess that would keep him occupied enough that he will forget the MB that just flew by at a rate of speed above what is deemed socially responsible

You know according to radarroys radar test the V1 tested better than the
9500ci. Google Radar Roys and look at this years test and the V1 test as good or better in every test. PLUS when the V1 gets dated you send it in for an update instead of buying a whole new one.
Plus Mike Valentine who came from escort to start his own company. Because he didnt like that you had to buy a new one every year. He hangs out on Rennlist and you can email him or PM him there and he will email you back.

Radars Roys doesnt sell V1s either but they tested it.

I have read every test that I can find and they all come to different conclusions of which is best. V1 is ranked up there, but so is the Escort brands, it just depends on who is doing the test which brand comes in 1st and which one 2nd.
I have also read many of these boards for other performance vehicles (BMW, SRT8, Mustang, etc) and opinions all vary there as well.
I could not find any bad info on the SRX on any of the boards, but found many who liked it. That coupled with wanting both a stealth install and an integrated unit the SRX meet my needs at a fair price.
I will post my thoughts/review of the system once it is installed and I have a change to drive with it in the real world.

For those of you that have hardwired your detector, where did you tap the power from? Fuse block or a switched wire and specifically which one and where?

I'm taking delivery of my C63 tomorrow and need to wire in the V1 and LI ASAP.

Thanks,

Mike

I have a windshield mount V1. Seriously considering the MD City V1 module. I have an Escort 8500 X50 and I like it but the arrows on the V1 are REALLY helpful. I think the Escort has slightly better detection over hills but the V1 compensates by telling you where to look. I got nailed the first week in the C63 cause I was too lazy to take the V1 out of the other car. I don't leave home without a radar detector it's mandatory.

I have never heard of the Blinder before.... did some web searching. Is it that good??
