Flashed ECU guys: Do you get CEL's?
I'm thinking about getting my ECU done, but I really hate CEL's, especially after the whole CEL ordeal I already went through when I got my car.
So I'm wondering for all the MHP, PWRChp, Kleemann, Renntech flashed ECU's out there:
What are your experiences with CEL's so far?
Thanks in advance.

I did, but there's more going on than meets the eye...
You've got a valid concern there. After I had my remap done at Evosport, the CEL came on and they found it to be from a pressure sensor in the exhaust manifold getting tripped at low to mid rpm. They took a few stabs at it, and in the end they dialed back the torque increase at the bottom end, and eased off the throttle map compared to the original remap. Apparently the '09s have a lower threshold on the sensors and can't take quite as much low rpm power. They said the peak power and torque were still as quoted, but they had to take the edge off in the mid range.
Also, I'm not a motor guy, so if I misstated anything please correct me if you (whoever you may be) knows better.
Thanks, and I hope this helps,
Josh

I got my ecu back today. I put 200 kms on the car since then, driving the ***** out of it. No cel. You can definitely feel the power gain...I will make a proper thread with dyno results and everything next week.

Morning all. Please pardon the newbie questions regarding ECU upgrades:
1) Does flashing the ECU without upgrading the air intake and the exhaust put negative strain on the engine? I realize the engine will be working harder, but given the air intake and exhaust are restricted in the C63, is it ultimately better for the engine to have the intake and exhaust upgraded as well--not just from a perfomance standpoint, that's obvious, but from an engine wear and tear perspective.
2) I've seen posts about the ECU upgrades being tweaked onsite. I'm not close to the ECU tuners, so I'd do everything by mail. Does this likely mean that I'd be shipping my ECU back and forth until no warning lights come on, etc.?
Thanks

Not at all. A freer flowing intake/exhaust will help make the motor (essentially just a large air pump) more efficient overall, though they are not necessary and the gains netted by said parts are far less than what we see from ECU/TCU alone.
We can tune on site in real time or remotely if you FedEx or UPS us your ECU. We don't have CEL issues so you won't have to return your ECU to us.
