Need help. Going to Buy a Used 2008 C63

My dealer actually has one with about 6000 miles. I don't see anywhere else to buy a used one and save a little money. Everything I read talks aobut the quick depreciation of these cars so I'd like to save as much as possible.

The car is Steel Grey and looks perfectly new. IT has all the options other than the Performance Package. It was originally leased in May and it has a clean title. It is currently listed at $64k, which is strange because I see brand new ones with the same options listed at $65K and have been able to talk other dealers down just below $61k for a new one. The dealer of the used one is now asking about $60k online because I think they realized they way over-priced it.

So, I want to get this car but I really want to feel like I got a great deal. So what do you think a good deal on this car would be. I'm thinking I should be able to get this for at least as low as $55k. Thoughts?

I think the car will be worth $40,000 give or take in one year, so you are facing 15k in depreciation in the first year if you get whacked at $55,000. Your call.

$55,000 is a decent price, probably a little lower if you want great deal. Thats a lot of miles since May. Probably needs new tires unless they replaced them.

I've been looking at more 08's now because of the big price hit, and also it has power folding mirrors.

you can get a new one for that price. you can get a new one for about 60-61 if you mess with them. your beter off buying a new one its you A$$ siting in a 60k car that you put the key in. not 55k and it was someone else b!tch before yours. dont take this the wrong way that just my 0.02 cents ill pay the extra 5000$ for me to be the first to about it. good luck

I agree with mthis.. I'd go new for the extra 5 to 10k ... no doubt about it.

Thank your for your suggestions. I'm really torn on what to do. I'm buying this for my wife and we both like the C63 better than the M3. The interior just seemed nicer and it drives so smooth but has alot of muscle.

I asked last night about the tires, and they said that they are at least 65%, which probably means I need to replace them soon. Does anyone have pricing on replacing tires?

I'd like to just get a new one, but my first choice in color is the Steel Grey which is what the used one is. We can't find this in a 2009 anywhere near us. Were there any major changes to the 2009 that would definitely make me want that year?

Thanks for your help and I really appreciate everyone's input.

IMO I would buy a new one, just read this forum lots of people like to track do you what that does to you car? In the long run the $5k or 10K up front over say 5yrs is nothing comparing to $5k right now because your rear end just blow up

First comment I have is that you can get your used C63 shipped from a dealer far away. I paid about $1,300 to have my prior E55 shipped from Pittsburgh to Houston, TX. So, a little extra money to have all (or most) of the features that you want might be worthwhile to you.

Second comment is: use my above comment as leverage. Print out (from autotrader.com or another source) where your "favorite used C63 is" and tell them you're willing to have that car shipped to you--unless you can get the price that you are willing to pay for the one close to you. Or heck, if SouthWest or some other discount carrier flies to that destination--buy a one-way ticket and drive her back.

If you have a friend (or a friend of a friend) in the car business, ask them to look at what wholesale is going for. I know my prior 2008 E90 M3 was going for about $43 - $45K wholesale (from a $56K sticker) a month ago. Maybe someone has some insights on the C63.

Final comment: test drive the car on 2 different days, and each day, get their "best offer" and after each, return home without purchasing. After the 3rd test drive, I think you'll likely be at their best, "best offer" price.

However, if you have a dealer that is willing to show you their purchase price of the car without going though all the hoops and games, offer them their purchase price plus $500.

Yes
$1k is not enough incentive for a used car thats 1 model yr old (compared to a new 2009).

There was a $49k 08 C63 with 2100 miles on Ebay a week ago. Id start there.

A new 08 should cost less than a new 09
I personally wouldn't pay 55K for a USED 08 with 6K miles if I can buy a new one for 60 or 61K (though I haven't check if a new one can be had for this price)

well you wont have to change ther front ones, so you looking at 600 for the rears installed. but if i were you i would buy the nittos 555r 285/35/18 for everyday driving. they about 275$ each.

65% means that the car was not abused if he dint change them before. i got 4000miles out of my stock.

edit: sorry dint read that u getting a new 1 anyways good luck with which ever you get.

Manager is now saying 57,500. Ha! I can't believe it. I guess it was the salesperson that would do 55 but the manager would only do 57.5. For a 2008 with 6000 miles. Can't belive it. I guess I will be going with a new one. Anyone in the LA area no of anyone that can help me out to get a great deal? Thanks for your help everyone.

Dont waste your money on this stealership which you are working with. Offer them a firm $52,000 so it wouldn't be called low balling them. If they accept kudos to you, if they dont send their business packing .

What I like!
Well I have a 2008 Steel Grey C63, with 6000 miles on it. That is not
too many miles. I take the car out of the garage maybe one day a week. I've taken 2 trips to Vegas, one to Palm Springs, and commuted in it several times. LA is a large metropolitan area, not a small town. People DRIVE here. 6000 miles is too many??

I say if the car still smells new, looks and drives flawless and you can get the MB CPO warranty on top of the factory warranty, you should seriously consider it. My tires look great because my miles are mostly freeway.

At 6000 miles, my car is faster and getting better mpg. It still seems brand new to me, "and I absolutely ADORE it" to quote J.C. again
