Black Grille

Has anyone located a black grille for our C63s? I'm not looking for CF, but think black would look great on my black C63 and am concerned the durability of a painted grille. I'd rather find a black one that is made that way rather than paineted. these are really common for the BMWs, but I've yet to find one for the Benzes.

TIA

Mike

I think getting a bodyshop to paint it is probably the easiest solution. Probably cost around ~$200. Ordering from the dealership is going to set you back at least like 4 bills if you wanted another just to paint... if you wanted to keep your stock one just in case. Perhaps ebay?

yeah, any bodyshop can take care of you. You can also vinyl wrap it if it's a lease or you have ADD.

How would you vinyl wrap such an oddly shaped piece? Would that cost more than paint?

you can actually disassemble the grill. the chrome parts from the plastic parts and you can wrap it with 3m vinyl material. Its basically what some people do with CF style vinyl like... http://www.decalfx.com/carbon_3_black_sheets.html

Except it would be just plain black vinyl if you want to go that route. But body matched paint looks impressive. I did that for my grill. Or the other finish would be a matte black. (oh yeah you can do that with just a rattle can)

I think vinyl would be slightly less than paint. But paint looks clean, permanent, but costs a bit more.

yeah, what german-anger said. I painted my grille flat black, but got bored of the look, so vinyled it with CF vinyl. I only did the slab portions, but the chrome parts could easily be wrapped too. Painting your grille can cost $150-200. Vinyl can cost $50.

here's an example of CF vinyl slabs

Here's an example of chrome trimming being wrapped in flat black vinyl, what I plan on doing to my window trim too.

that looks great Azn_300, where do you get sheets of vinyl big enough for the trim?? Whats the cost like? A tint shop offered to do it for like 300$ but I said hellz no, because i can probably just get it painted at that price by bodyshop friend!
