c63 have some form of Race Start?

Trying to figure out what the features of the c63 transmission are. I know its not a clutch transmission (uuuggg torque converter) but does it have some kind of launch control like the SLK transmission does?

Who needs launch control when you're storming off like a rocket

There is a launch control mode for the C63. I'm surprised your sales rep didn't show you during the test drive.

Do this only when absolutely necessary:

1. Activate the LFOGP mode from INSIDE the vehicle (caution: You MUST NOT do this from outside the vehicle.);

2. Activate the HOFDL feature for ALL vehicle occupants;

(Note: At this point, you should be able to observe slight blurring of images in your peripheral vision.)

3. Once HOFDL has been exercised by all vehicle occupants, driver MUST be prepared to deploy the SOTB function if you detect dark-uniformed individuals standing off on side of the road pointing a laser device at your vehicle.

There, that's the instructions I was given and I hope it was helpful for everyone here as well.

Legend:

LFOGP = Lead foot on gas pedal
HOFDL = Hang on for dear life
SOTB = Slam on the brakes

HAHA, impressive set of acronyms I have added to my everyday use. Now people will give me puzzled looks when I tell them to deploy the LFOGP module

Well sorry for all you guys that have no idea on how to drive a manual car, but there is a big difference when you mash on a gas pedal in 1st gear at 1,000 RPMs and dropping a clutch at 5000 RPMs, and I dont care how much torque the C63 has, its off the line performance will suck if there is no way to launch it.

I cant believe mercedes does not have a manual tranny for these cars, or at the very LEAST put in a damn dual clutch automatic tranny in all the AMG series.

Hey, we were just clowning around. Sorry, didn't know we had to be serious all the time.

Anyway, the car is what it is. It's an automatic and we're stuck with it. I believe a deft right foot in M mode is your best bet. Good luck.

Best bet is left foot on brake to about 2K RPMs....then launch.

Agree...... even if you rev to 5000 RPM and drop the clutch you will still just sit there and spin your tires... so not quite sure what the comments are about..... whether auto or standard you need to learn to feather the start and it really has not much to do with whether auto or whatever....

1) Buy Mickey Thompson 265/40/18" DRs and put them on your stock rims, run 20psi cold pressure at the track or while racing.

2) Do a 7 second 2nd gear burnout.

3) Stomp the gas from a dig, flashing the converter, do not powerbrake with DRs as you'll overshoot the converter and bog.
