Non-serious reply: Okay, I give up, are prices going to go down in January?

Serious reply: There certainly doesn't seem to be any reason why they would go up. Even if consumer confidence returns, lots of dealerships have stockpiles of inventory that needs to be moved. I foresee a continuation of the incentives that dealerships have been employing to clear out their inventory. That's my best guess anyway.

What car are you in the market for?

I say it will go down. I really don't think we have hit bottom just yet, wait till after Christmas. A whole lot depends on how the holidays go in the market period.

the best possible deal you will get at any dealer is the week between Christmas and New Years Eve. My friend owns a car dealership and thats what he told me. You will never get a better deal anytime during the year than the 52nd week of the year. His explanation was lengthy and i didnt feel like typing it up but its a culmination of alot of factors.

Thats when I usually buy my cars and am actually waiting to go buy my dad a car that week. Not sure what to get him yet. Ive narrowed it down to E350, 535XI or A6 3.2. By the way any advice on which i should get him

My opinion is it really depends what your in the market for...my lease is due in May on my supercharged range rover sport and i believe my buyout is like $50k (30 month lease @ 12k miles) or so, and im pretty confident i could get it for $40k, but I have no intention on doing that.

Initially when I saw people paying $1300 per month on a C63 lease i thought it was a rip-off, but like everyone familiar with MB says, its the nature of the AMG beast. Current lease rates (I went in 2 weeks ago) are near 10%. After going through numbers, the 39 month lease with 10k mile allowance will run appx $51k. For me its a no-brainer, I plan to put 30k down and financing the rest. Im pretty confident that in 39 months Ill have it paid off and can re-coup more than the $15k difference (+interest) between finance and lease at this time.

I never got around to negotiating my price b/c I had been set on leasing, but Im aiming for $2k off. Keep in mind Ill be ordering in Jan for a May delivery and Im in the NY metro area. The dealership Im going to is the 3rd largest in the US and might not be hurting for the business as badly as others. But to anser your particular question I would think pricing will be more favorable prior to January with the year end crunch.

If your in the market for a Ford, Chrysler, or GM car, I would say they will be dirt cheap with everything thats going on. I can see most of them going for 0% financing as well with the inter-bank lending rates near 0.

Why is the end of the month in December different than say, the end of November or end of January? I thought it was more of a monthly thing.

1. End of the business quarter for most dlrs.

2. End of the fiscal year for some.

3. End of the calendar year (salesmen and manager bonuses, perks, etc, are often figured on a calendar year basis).

4. End of the banking year.

etc

.

You should be able to get ATLEAST $3700 off MSRP. Don't settle for less .. if no local dealers give it to you, than go out of state.

Even on a lease you should negotitate the price first.... don't even tell them you are leasing until the price is set.

Exactly. If you don't realize the importance of the end of the year, do some homework. Many businesses, including the auto industry rely heavy on this season all the time.

If I remember correctly, about 60%(?) of the yearly retail sales and goods occur this month. Don't quote me on the exact percentage but it is pretty high.

A 2008 c63 silver onblack with 7k miles highest bid $46k

A c63 went through at a dealer auction and the highest bid was $46k. It did not sell. The seller wanted $51k. Simply means that they r losing value fairly quick. So be cautious. Cls55's hands down are better looking cars and they are selling stupid cheap. I will say in 6 months C63's will be high 30's low 40's
A 10k mile Isf lexus 2008 sold for $43k at same auction. These cars were mint and like new
