Anyone Wish for Supercharged 8? Should I?

May be time for a change from my supercharged Jag XJR. Aside from the tame looks I used to really like the C32 considering the huge modding potential of the blown 6.

Only MB I have owned is a 95 SL500 and an ML430 - never any AMG cars. Have a friend with a CLS55. My understanding is that this engine is either stronger or more "moddable" than 6.3 NA. Do any of you feel limited or wish the C63 was C55 with E55 motor?

I've heard of E55's running well into the 11's and is much heavier. Can this be done with 6.3? I'm really drawn to the DTM look and sound of the car but am wondering if I'd have buyers remorse.

Here are few pics of my toys so you have an idea of my taste. If you have had any of these and can offer feedback it would be appreciated.

BTW, some of the pics are clips.

well, I think the 55k motor is better suited to the E-class and also to the automatic transmission.

If the C63 had a manual transmission, Id be a lot more interested in it. To me, a car like this with an automatic is a disaster.

Obviously you've never driven one.

The C63 is much lighter than the E-Class, and it is already having tremendous traction problems in stock form (451 hp). In addition, most tuners bring the hp levels up to 550 hp (equivalent to a stage 2 E55), which then makes traction an even bigger problem. The E55 engine has a lot of torque available at low rpm..... I can't imagine adding a fully modded E55 engine (650 hp) in the C-Class without changing the car's characteristics.

of course I have. Its a quick car, but ultimately not terribly involving to drive. If I wanted a fast straight line car with some luxury, probably not a bad choice.

To me, a sports car has 3 pedals and a shifter. I would never buy an automatic sports car.

Compared to a BMW 745i the C63 has much more grunt, of course much sportier. The steering wheel feels much more solid and responsive on the C63 than the 7 I used to drive. I won't even bother compare the noise... they are incomparable. Torque on the C63 makes your eyes roll backwards. The automatic transmission is much more sophisticated on the C63 than any other car I have ever driven with an automatic gearbox, period.

Comparing it to a Porsche Cayenne S, I would have to say that even though the Cayenne was an SUV and did not have as much torque or horse power, it still handled like a Porsche. The Cayenne was an awesome car, and in many aspects the C63 reminds me of the Porsche, with the way it feels as you drive the car around.

Nice review! Big contrast from BMW 7 and Cayenne but nice review nonetheless.

Anybody looked at or owned RS4, M3, M5, Evo?

C63 can not compare to a e55

c63 feels like a small sportscar and e55 like what is is, a big heavy limosine.

Here you got a test of C63 vs M3 vs RS4

You can tune the c63 to arround 550 hk easy.. and that is just sick in a Cklass.

Ive not seen someone who have tune it with a supercharger but that would be insane.

AMG has been said the 6,3 engine with twin turbo should deliver arround 700 - 750 hk from factury. But they dont have any car to put a twin turbo 6,3 engine in... Yet..
