Having trouble finding the 5W-40 from Mobil

I'm trying to locate the 5W-40 Synthetic Mobil 1 but the only one I can find looks to be designed for diesel engines. I found the 0W-40 but my dealer said they are using the 5W this time of year in AZ.

I'm going to the dealer today after work but thought I'd post here first. Can someone offer some direction on where to purchase the 5W-40? Should we be using the diesel version? Me thinks not.

Thanks in advance.

I might be wrong, but as far as I know there was a thread about this before and MB recently changed their specs and are now recommending use of 5w-40 for all 6.3 engines.

That is correct. There is a different 5W-40 available for the 63 engines. The only place that seem to be selling them so far is AV Lubrications, Inc. Here is a link:

http://www.avlube.com/mo1espfom5wc.html

I believe they call it 5W-40 ESP Formula M

I remember that thread as well but Mobil1's own site has the C63 on 0W-40. I'm open to learning new stuff but until I see something definitive I find it hard to believe that the 0W-40 is bad for our engines.

Same here. Wally World has for the most part always had it on the shelf in my local area. As a back up I can go to Auto Zone. (AKA Auto Cracker)

FWIW, I use 0W-40 as well. Unless u live in a cold climate, there is no real difference b/n Mobil's 0W vs. 5W.

Ditto...what sucks is that they don't always have 9 quarts on the shelf and is sometimes hard to find someone to help you.

I ordered four 6-packs of ESP from my local Pep Boys...they said it would be in on Thurs. When I first called four PB's last week the most any single store had in stock was six bottles.

You can always get it at the dealer. I always keep a couple extra qts. on hand.
