Exhaust: Kleeman vs. Renntech

Exhaust: Kleeman vs. Renntech

Has anyone sampled both the Renntech exhaust and the Kleeman exhaust? Any comparisons/contrasts? Renntech uses long tube headers, while Kleeman uses the short tube, almost log-type, headers. However, the Kleemans hook up directly to their own high-cell cats, while Renntech uses the stock cats. (Please correct me if I am wrong.) Both use the stock exhaust from cat back. Do the exhausts sound differently? Do they offer different performance characteristics (when paired with an ECU tune and less restrictive air filters/boxes)? Does a 180 degree t-stat (with corresponding ECU mapping) make a big difference? If so, are there any drawbacks? (I put one in my Suburban and the heater doesn't seem to be able to heat up the cabin as well on really cold days.)

i.e. What is the best way to uncork a C63?

PS - this thing needs rear flares and wider rear rubber.

I've never seen long tube headers for the C63 from Renntech. They only list shorty headers on their web site catalog and when I talked to them late last year they told me they don't have long tube headers for our cars.

We've got longtubes/high flow cats or off-road mids that mate to the stock catback, catbacks that mate to the OEM manifolds, and a full race exhaust from longtube to tailpipe.

Hey Lew,
Pics/vids/sound clips will be posted shortly. I could post pics of the initial/fabricated set but they aren't sightly--there are welds where mandrel bends will be on production systems.
It's a tight fit but these suckers will make power no question.
