Thumbs up Evosport C63 Exhaust with video. Yes, you heard right.

Well, as some of you know, I work in the fab shop at evosport. We've been planning on doing some C63 exhaust work for a while (before I started, anyway), and we finally got the time to build up our first sample this past week. We started our development with a basic race pipe: 2 1/2" diam, .049" wall stainless with an X-pipe, deleted primary and secondary cats and the resonator. It's LOUD. Probably a little too loud and raw for most civilized folk, but it sounds insane and I love it! The downshift throttle blips are explosive (off the throttle, 5-4 @ about 70mph is orgasmic), and full throttle tunnel running is a mind bending experience. (I can't believe I get to build and test these things...)

Anyhow, this coming week we'll be refining the bends and installing zero-loss resonators to clean up the sound and tone down the volume a tad. After we get those updates dialed, we'll be making fixtures for production and trying out some different cats (I'm pushing for 200 cell metallic race) to get it street legal, if not totally legit CA emissions-wise.

We'll be offering it in three flavors to fit any level of brain damage, all with the x-pipe: Straight (Clinically insane), w/ Resonators (Needs intensive therapy), w/ Resonators and Cats (Has minor issues).

Also, this thing is light. Damn LIGHT! I'd say it's easily 30lbs lighter than stock, but we haven't weighed it yet so I can't say for sure. I'll post official numbers Monday.

Thanks, and keep your eyes and ears open because we're just getting started...

We shot some more video today that has killer audio, and I'll upload that as soon as I can. In the meantime here's some images to whet your appetites:

Josh

I really like how you do things and the workmanship you put into what you do.

It's the kind of worker's pride stuff, that makes America great....

Do you happen to have any pictures of the stock exhaust system removed from the car. I just want to get a visual of where all the stock parts were located. (ie. primary, secondary cats, resonator)

Sounds awesome, and the quality looks great! Great option for those who don't want to run LTs.

Thanks all you guys! Shawn and I (the evosport fabbies) take great pride in what we make, and I'm really glad it shows!

And for the picture, ask and ye shall receive:

(I took these on my phone, so please forgive the quality, or lack thereof)

Also, I'm uploading another video of me ripping the car around in manual mode. However, my connection blows goats, so it's taking forever, and I have to go to bed. I'll post the link tomorrow.

Edit: Here's the new video link: (and we still have more to upload!)

Enjoy! (Sorry about the wind noise...)

Beemer, Benz or ... Chevy.
Great work! It sounds very good. Only questions are:

1) Is there any drone inside the cabin at any speeds?

2) Is it quiet enough to drive around town when not getting on it?

3) And obviously, how much would it be?

I currently drive an 6.0L LS2 Corvette with headers, no cats, and an axleback with no mufflers, so drone has been an issue here.

Answers to your questions:

Drone in the cabin?
Cruising at normal highway speeds it's pretty much silent. Over 80-85 I become aware of the exhaust, but not in a bad way. Just conscious of it. Past 90-95 it's definitely there, maybe borderline what you'd call drone, but not unpleasant. Over 100 you can't miss it. But there's a lot of wind noise, too, and besides, your attention should be focused on the road at those speeds.

Noise driving around town?

Well, here's where the resonators will definitely help: Between 1500 and 2500rpm at mid throttle there's a harmonic that I don't particularly care for, so I've been driving it in M mode lately and keeping the revs either as low as possible or keeping it farther up in the range. Say over 3500rpm. If I'm mellow with the throttle at higher revs it's actually pretty reasonable sounding. However, when you get on it, it gets loud (LOUD), no matter what RPM you're at... But that's to be expected. Heck, that's the point!

What's it weigh?

We weighed all the old and new exhaust parts today, and I honestly had my mind blown: It's 40 pounds lighter than stock. 40! I guessed 30 earlier, so I'm as shocked as you are. Even adding resonators back in, we'll still be 35-37 pounds lighter than stock. And with decent cats, at least 32-34. Also, there's some miscellaneous brackets and hangers that can be discarded that total up another 3 or 4 pounds lost. So up to 44 pounds lighter all included.

How much power does it make?
I have no idea. We'll be putting it on the dyno in the next day or two, so I'll post an exact number then. My last run with the stock exhaust was 448 with a fresh ECU remap, so we'll have to wait and see... My butt dyno says good things, but it's calibration might be affected by my recent partial deafness. Just kidding.

What does it cost?

Again, I'm sorry to say, but I don't know. We're still working out our production time and materials costs, so these will affect the final price a lot. And honestly, this is a question for the sales guys. I'm sure we'll have some sort of introductory special, though.

What's installation like?
There are two cuts and two welds to your old exhaust involved, as we want to keep the OE mufflers and tips, but overall this is actually a very simple upgrade. We only have to remove one plastic cover panel. All the structural braces and supports are untouched.

Okay, I think that covers what I can answer for now, but please keep the questions coming, this is fun. We'll be putting in the resonators tomorrow, so I'll post again tomorrow night with another driving video and personal impressions. If the planets align right, I'll also be able to get you kids some power numbers, too. But don't hold your breath on getting those tomorrow...

Buh... bai.

Josh

PS - BenzoBoi: Good to hear from you. Of course I remember you and that gnarly sounding 55. I'm moving to Costa Mesa this weekend, so we gotta go driving soon and have a growl-off!

Hey Josh! Car definitely sounds great! I actually got rid of the exhaust and went back to the stock mufflers. Still have my secondaries and resonators out but just moved back to the stock mufflers. I'm quiet as can be now...

Just curious if you guys have had a chance to dyno your car with the race midpipe? Any idea on pricing yet, or shipment dates? Thanks.
